Fair Play Draw Next Tuesday

Fair Play Draw Next Tuesday

Martin O'Neill has again spoken of the possibility of a back door entry into next seasons Uefa Cup.

Villa are second in the fair play league with only Spurs ahead of us. As Spurs are just one point away from automatic Uefa qualification, that would mean Villa would go into the hat for the draw next Tuesday.

I don't think I've ever said this before and I don't think I'll ever say it again but.... Come on you Spurs!

O'Neill admits in the future he wants to qualify properly but if we get entry, we'll take it!

He told avfc.com:

'You wouldn't want that to be the way we got in, but you'd take it. I feel we're now playing well enough to make something of it. Qualifying for the UEFA Cup would change all our pre-season plans, but if we got into the first qualifying round from the Fair Play award, then of course we would.'

Even if we go into the hat there is still only a 1 in 5 chance as 10 teams will be entered.

Fingers and toes will be crossed. Its a long shot, but long shots have been known to come through. Will add that little bit of an extra sparkle to next season, as if we haven't got enough to look forward to already.

All we need to do is not let Bolton win against us ie. draw or win then due to the table spuz can't finish lower than 7th. So Come On Villa not spuz!!

A long shot, eh? Where's Thomas Hitzlsperger when you want him?! Nice to see some support from some other teams as well, thanks to rooneyisgod and dazed. True, it's not the ideal way to get in, but if we're there we have the draw of european football on top of all the other exciting developments. One can hope, eh.

Take it any way you can, I suppose! Though you could get a few players sent off at the weekend, etc. But when you're in, you're in...not that MON has many happy experiences of his last match in the UEFA Cup.
