New Aston Villa Crest: Here Tomorrow
Just a quick note to point out that as soon as the new official club badge/crest/logo/whateveryoucallit is released by the club tomorrow, Vital Villa will be releasing the breaking news.
After a fans consultation, the start of the re-branding of the club as a whole has been shown to club staff, with everyone else finding out what is going on 9AM Wednesday.
There are unconfirmed/confirmed/unconfirmed reports that the new badge/crest/etc. will be on the scarves offered to every fan at the game against Sheffield United this weekend.

Just seen it - its ok but looks a bit retro! Would have rather seen more claret and less blue - perhaps reversed?? Having the star is the main thing though!!!

I thinkit looks OK, quite like that they have explained each littl bit in detail it makes me feel happier with it. In respect of the star it really doesnt look that bad, i thought it would be tacky but its OK. I think it is very inoffensive and also think it will lookreally good on a claret shirt

Erm... Really disappointed. Way too blue. Claret background with a blue lion would have been so much better. The yellow/gold lion against the light blue background doesn't work.

I don't mind the design, what annoys me is that they placed so much emphasis on marketing the club better with it, but neglected to actually put the clubs damn name on it. What is 'AVFC' on its own going to mean to someone in South America?

Opportunity missed I think. I thought we were going to have a gold star? I'll wait and see what it looks like on a shirt - it may just be that in isolation it doesn't create the full effect.

I like it, majority of teams have their abbreviations on it, really think your looking into that too much. 1st thoughts nice and retro, second thoughts would've preferred the old style shield but think it'll look good on a shirt

I personally really like it. It looks very old school, as though villa are being taken back to their roots. I prefer it to the current badge anyway. I also think it is a welcome change having more blue, with the current one what's with the stripes? we don't wear stripes, well we have done in the past but primarily we don't. Pros: Prefer the blue, nice star, very classic/retro style cons: avfc?? i want classic Aston Villa FC, it's a shield - round badge please.

On the official site when you hover your mouse over the lion on the presentation that explains what all the bits of the logo represent it puts a black outline around it, and all of a sudden it goes from bleh to brilliant. Why couldn't they have done that? Otherwise, it is beginning to grow...

New kit to be unveiled as early as possible after the Hummel contract has finished (31 May). These guys won't waste any time in getting the replica shirts available before the new season - they'll be doing their best to keep the interest levels high during the summer.

New crest would look okay on the home shirt providing a balance of the claret. Assuming the new away shirt is white then I'm not sure the contrast between the blue and white would make it even visible!

Hmmmmm. Not sure. But it is another step away from the Ellis years and that can not be a bad thing. Lets hope they get it produced and put on the stands asap. The Witton Lane stand still has the the badge from 10 years ago. It also gives the owners the opportunity to remove the Ellis name from the cladding. So although it may still technically be called the Doug Ellis Stand, the actual writing proclaiming this, could be removed.

hmmm.......i gotta get used to this.....altho i would have hoped for the full "ASTON VILLA FC" instead of AVFC....anyway...if we are going to be a force to be reckoned with...everyone will know what AVFC stands for anyway......tis da future lads...da future....

I like it, retro, and fitting. At first I was unsure, but I have kept going back and looking at it again and again.
It will be interesting to see how it appears through the trees from the top of Trinity Road by the Holte Hotel, no doubt all signs around the ground will be changed asap.
It does look better on a claret background, and cant wait to see the new kit. Its like a fine wine I suppose, it gets better with age and so far its only 57 minutes old!

Like most people, when I first saw it I wasn't overly impressed, it just looked a bit flat. But as people have said I think once it is on a claret shirt I'm sure it will look a lot better. It will depend on how the badge is produced for the shirt too, with the lion/wording maybe being stitched or emobossed in some way to make them stand out a bit more. I think the images of the badge for use on website's etc. could do with a bit more of a 3D feel to help them stand out. It is growing on me though....

I suppose keeping it simple could be making a statement that gone are the days of smokescreens and bull*****ting, and here are the days of boldness and honesty. Or it could just be a ***** badge? You decide!

Its an improvement on the previous badge, a new look for the new era. I like it, definitely believing it to be a step in the right direction. A lot of thought has obviously gone into it, and lets face it, how many variations of the official club badge can there realistically be? No, its sufficiently fresh and different to receive my approval and backing.
