Sutton's Eye Still Not Sorted

Martin O'Neill still doesn't know to what extent striker Chris Sutton's eye injury has recovered.

Sutton, who was injured in a clash with Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidić on December 23 2006, is awaiting the results from a specialist regarding blurred vision that he still struggles with.

Sutton is out of contract in the summer, and had said that a serious injury would be the end of his time at Villa as the player himself would cancel his contract.

O'Neill said: 'He is waiting confirmation from the specialist. Is it good news? I just don't know. All I can tell you is there has not been significant improvement in the eye and that is pretty disheartening.'

Funny that, he has been out for 4 months yet remains a Villa player?

Sutton did a great, stop gap, job for us at the time. But we, and he, should move on now. We already have Carew and who knows what the close season will bring, so it should be goodbye Chris and thanks.

Better to preserve his eyesight than risk blindness. Done well when we were struggling, its a pity as I think he had much more to offer the youngsters.

Agree col8. His eyesight is obviously his prime concern right now, and after all this time with virtually no improvement, I would imagine that he's becoming a very worried man.

Doesn't matter about the eye, we just dont need him anymore we have plenty of options up front and I'm sure that will be added to in the summer.
