Bardsley To Leave Villa

Bardsley To Leave Villa

Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill has admitted that the clubs on-loan right back Phil Bardsley will be returning to Manchester United at the end of the season.

Bardsley who has had mixed games and gathered some mixed opinions from Villa fans has made 13 appearances so far in place of Aaron Hughes as Mark Delaney still has his problems.

Martin O'Neill said: 'I think that decision has actually been made, because Sir Alex himself has said he is recalling all players from loan.

'I think that was always going to be the case. When I spoke to Sir Alex about it in the first place and to Phil, I don't think it was a case of seeing how things developed.

'I think he's enjoyed it and I've enjoyed having him here, there's no doubt about it.'

Well if that is the case put Aaron Hughes in at right back for the final two games. Sure he may not be first-choice next season but he will obviously be second choice behind whoever we sign. No point in Bardsley playing again this season.

Two good posts. I have already said previously that Luke Young is the shout. Plus it is now pointlss playing Bardsley again. His purpose has been served. Tell Aaron Hughes to prove he still has an opportunity at this club.

I can't say it's a huge shame we're not going in for him permanently. He may be a prospect in the future but we could do with attracting players who can do it on the pitch now.

Didn't really think Bardsley was up to scratch, so not surprised he's returning to OT. We need a strong, swashbuckling right back who isn't afraid to get forward. I wonder if John Gidman's got a son ?

Luke Young? Come on! With a central defender at left back we need more in attack from our right back. Luke Young is a decent enough defender but I think a RB in the Cafu mould would make us a far more effective attacking team. Now, where the hell they find a young undiscovered Cafu who all the Champions League Uefa cup qualified teams haven't noticed, I have no idea
