Villa man-of-the-match v Man City

Vital Villa asked for your man of the match votes for our 2-0 win over Manchester City. I nearly added Joey Barton as an option for missing that penalty, but resisted!

The runaway winner was Ashley Young on 53%. Young showed what he could do out on the wing setting up the goal for Big John Carew and putting in a sparkling performance that showed great promise for next season.

Stiliyan Petrov once again impressed a fair few with 12%, all the other votes were fairly evenly spread:

Barry (7%)
Maloney (7%)
Sorensen (6%)
Bouma (4%)
Carew (4%)
Agbonlahor (3%)
Laursen (3%)
Gardner (1%)
Bardsley (0%)
Mellberg (0%)
Moore (0%)

Our latest poll is part of the Vital end of season awards and asks what the best off field achievements have been this season. Makes for very positive reading hence we decided on the forum to remove the 'getting rid of Doug' option as we need to focus on the future not the past!!!!

Good to see Young come out on top. Before Saturday he had me slightly worried.

he will be fine, his delivery was superb, combined with his skill and pace, he will look worth 9m in no time if he puts those performances in consistently.
Stig
Well done Ashley, superb attitude and endless running, more potential than Milner - I think so. Being two footed with pace are great assets for a winger.
tarzan
Tarzan - You honestly think he's potentially better than Milner? I hope so because I rate Milner. I haven't seen any of the Man City Game and missed the Pompey game so I haven't seen him lately. What do others think about the comparison?
Gazvilla
Milner is as good as he's going to get. Young will be better.
gwyllum18
I always thought if Milner was as good as everyone was making out last year he would have been at the world cup he never got a sniff though. Got to agree with Gwyllum that Young has far more potential.
iomvilla
Young is 10 times the player of Milner. He has everything, not only pace and skill as you would expect, but also an eye for goal, a poachers insticnt, he can take set pieces and seems to have a good brain. I think he'll prove to be a bargain at 9million.

Because I had friends round at the weekend and got just a tad inebriated I didn't see football first or MOTD so haven't seen anything of the game. But going by what you boys are saying on here 'Ashley done good' he must have carried on where he left off from the Portsmouth game then, because he looked sharp when he came on then too.
jonah
Young played well, no doubt about it, but I also thought that Petrov and Barry were outstanding. We've played a lot better away and lost, but hey, who the hell cares. Lets be realistic though, Citeh were downright abysmal, and on that showing are very lucky to not be involved in the relegation scrap going on at the bottom right now.

His crossing is superb and has a few tricks up his sleeve....cant wait for him to settle and start running rings round full backs!

On another point, nice to see Bouma get into the oppositions penalty box for once and almost score. I was wondering when he would venture that far. He looking so much better nowadays

Good to see ash doing the bizz, think they all did. Barry has set high standards and keeps doing so. would like to see others as consistant.
