'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Villa - Sunday Press Gossip

Gossip is short today but hey ho, here is what is in the Sunday press.

The Sunday Mirror are claiming that Aston Villa will spend 12.5m during the summer transfer window to bring in Liverpool striker Craig Bellamy (the rumour that just won't go away) and Celtic's Polish goalkeeper Artur Borac.

However according to the News of the World, Villa will face competition from Italian giants Inter Milan and German club Bayern Munich for the signature of Borac.

In other news Patrik Berger appears to be keeping his options open.

'I do have something (an offer - possibly a move to Major League Soccer in America), but I don't want to make a decision right now. I just want to finish the season here and help the club to finish as high as we can. Then we will see what happens after that.'

'I think there is definitely a chance of me staying on at Villa. Nothing is happening right now, and it is up to the manager. If he will be willing to give me a new deal, we can talk. I would love to do that. That would probably be the best decision for me and my family. I wouldn't have to move and the kids could stay in the same school, so it would be the best scenario - but we will see what happens.'

Looks like MON wants to add another couple of Celtic players, albeit one of them is an ex Celtic player. Only a matter of time before he has all his old boys there and next will come the team name change.
Bud
Dont be silly, Aston Villa will never change their name... Martin Oneills Claret and Blue hooped army..
col8
Great more links with Celt ic ... Good players though so can't complain if the deals come through. Although a little worried by Bellamy and his temprement...
iomvilla
I think our midfield needs a Mr Nasty and Bellamy fits the bill. Hope MON addresses the right back issue too. Don't rate Bardsley. Maybe we can get John Gidman out of retirement!
pongogidman
would'nt surprise me if lennon is here next year too
bobbyfett
It's all press talk! he will go for a few others and laughable to think we would pay 12.5 mil for those two players!
spit-fire
I was thinking the same thing Bobby
Christo
Bellamy,Distin,Barton,Borac please, then our squad will be bang on for top eight next season hopefully.
ASPINALL
Sorry can i change Bellamy for Bent ? I`ll take Bentley as a little Brucey bonus.
ASPINALL
Bent will be sold to the highest bidder (like Young). The Celtic goalie is brilliant by all accounts, but there's some big teams in for him. I wouldn't descibe Bellend as ex-Celtic, he only went there on loan. That's a done deal. We need a centre back and a midfielder with bite. May depend on who goes down of course
tarzan
Distin a good call. I think Borat would be good, he'd be able to sing the national anthem at half time ;-)
tarzan
We have also been linked with Toulouse midfielder Achille Emana. Anybody know anything about him? Apart from the fact he is a Camaroon International!
CLVilla
It seems Sidwell really wants to go to the magpie nest so I guess thats him out of the question
Christo
Have not seen enough of Borac but Celtic appear to ship a fair few goals. Not keen on Bellend but would be very keen on Darren Bent. Also believe Luke Young would be a good option for right back. I can not see many better than Scott Parker for midfield.
voiceoftheholte
I think we will spend more than 12.5m if we can get the signings MON wants. A Central Midfielder to replace McCann is definatly on his short list.
leelindsay
CLVilla - Emana is a talented creative player. However, Lyon want him and apparently it's a done deal according to their president.
Gazvilla
Cheers Gaz. Looks like the tabloids are going to have a field day this summer!!!
CLVilla
I reckon we're gonna see a lot of change this summer. 6 or 7 out, 4 big big names in, thats my prediction.
DeanoVilla
Can't believe the number of people saying Distin. He would give us nothing, makes far too many mistakes, might as well be going for Titus Bramble FFS!!!!!
jonah
i agree jonah, why all this talk of Distin? he's old too, we want to be buying young players (like he already has with maloney and young) so he started off well, i would recommend looking through the lower leagues at 16/17 year old defenders there is loads of young talent being produced by lower league clubs now.
industrial_musical
Bardsley had one of his better performances on Saturday, but he still looks a weak link. That problem right back position has to be filled during the summer, and no doubt it will.
