Sir Dennis of Mortimer On New Crest

Dennis Mortimer has spoken about the imminent arrival of the new Villa crest and says it would be fitting for a star to be included in the design to remind us all of the 'proud heritage' of the club.

80% of fans who took time to fill in the survey on the new badge asked for a star and I'm sure a star is in the new design.

The badge can be viewed on the official site on Wednesday morning at 9am.

Sir Dennis of Mortimer said:

'I think it would be a nice touch on the football shirt, because it makes it stand out and lets people who might need reminding know what this club achieved. I don't think it should be used for a league title or a league cup, but to denote the European Cup - the biggest prize in football after the World Cup. I think a star on the badge would be ideal.'

Adding: 'It gets my wholehearted support and it would be great for the current and future players at Villa to know about the club's proud heritage every time they pull on the shirt.'

I must say, with that headline, I wondered just why Sir Denis would be a part of the new Villa crest :-P

Agreed. Wonder just how many of the 'Rotterdam' squad will be able to make back to their old haunt? It was a truly great night, and even after all this time I'm still mighty glad I was there in person to witness the greatest night in our illustrious club's proud history. Will be tremendous to welcome the boys home.

It's before the kick off. Not half time. Get to your seats early. Also with everyone in the ground having a shiny new scarf I's like to see The Holte looking like a Claret and Blue version of The Anfield Kop. UTV
