Lawro Predicts Another Villa Win!

Lawro Predicts Another Villa Win!

Lawrenson is amazing me, despite saying we'd win at home last weekend (only to see us draw against Portsmouth) he has again backed the mighty claret and blue to win this weekend against our bogey team Manchester City.

The BBC Pundit, who has fallen in love Villa by the looks of it, predicts 2-1 to Villa saying:

'Aston Villa are going through a funny stage where they can't seem to win at home but keep winning away. Goodness knows why that is. Since the turn of the year, everyone knows City have had a real problem scoring at home so I'm going for an away win here.'

Mystic Mug meanwhile isn't so confident this week and is going for yet another draw.

Not having seen MOTD for a while Lawro has certainly changed from how i remember him. As for the match i think with their awful home scoring record, our improved defencive record and our own lack of goals this has 0-0 written all over it . At an 8-1 shot at most bookies its worth a flutter.

The dreaded bogey team, and Darius Vassell. But this is one of our last 3 games in which we should come out on top

Lawro does make a point about Villa suddenly doing well away from home but unable to win at home. I have a theory. I think that Villa are now settling into a style of play that suits them. The new players have been around a while now and are bedding in. Much of our style of play is based on pace and counter attack which explains why O'Neill is determined to keep Gabby in the team. This means away from home, where the home team is duty bound to attack, we always stand a chance of breaking away on the counter attack. At home, visiting teams are sometimes happy to sit back and we have not yet got the guile to unlock stubborn defensive formations. Don't be surprised of we see MON buy players in the summer who will help do this.
