1 to vote for Villa player. Why?

Sorry to be negative, but am I the only one that thinks the player of the year voting system this season is a rip off? Fans used to be able to just tick a box on the official site to vote for their player of the year choice.

But now it is a text vote and that text costs £1.00

Sorry, but sod that. I think fans pay enough without this sort of rubbish, sodding hell, we'll be told this vote is run by Richard and Judy next! It is also very difficult to pick a player of the year judging by what they've produced on the pitch, early season aside.

Moan over.

If you do want to vote that way, you have to text VILLA followed by the number of the player (as below) to 88442 (eg Thomas Sorensen you should text VILLA1 to 88442.)

There is a VIP day for two at a game of the club's choice next season chosen randomly for all those that vote.

The deadline for entries is noon on Monday May 7.

Player of the Year
1) Sorensen
3) Samuel
4) Mellberg
5) Laursen
6) Barry
8) McCann
9) Angel
10) Carew
11) Petrov
12) Davis
13) Taylor
15) Agbonlahor
16) Bouma
17) Young
18) Hughes
19) Ridgewell
20) Sutton
21) Cahill
22) Moore
23) Berger
24) Bardsley
26) Gardner
27) Osbourne
28) Maloney

Vital Villa will of-course be doing our end of season awards next month including the much coverted 'best beard of the season award'. Olof Mellberg is(n't) said to be nervous of the outcome following several shaved appearances this season. Liam Ridgewell is(n't) said to be hopefull of picking up the award for his bum fluff attempts at gatecrashing the most (non) sort after award available to Villa players.

I don't know the whole story and if the club are continuing on their current vein of form I am sure the cash will be donated to charity?? If not then 1, sad that personally thought we would at least have a free vote seeing as we have already paid masses of money for season tickets and been given very little to cheer about.

Having to pay to vote for the Player of the Season is a bit much isn't it!?!? I know football is a business now but this is just too much. If 100% is going to charity then to a degree (not meaning to sound tight or harsh by saying to a degree) I can understand, but if some (maybe all?) goes to the club then I just think this is plain wrong after money paid our all season long. Think of how many millions could vote.

Its petty, and in my opinion its wrong. Cant understand why the club should take this route.

This method also alienates the fans outside the UK - some network providers restrict overseas "paid texting" services. Just when I thought Villa were starting to wake up to the overseas fan base!
