The Hulk Blows Easter

John Carew has dealt Villa a massive blow after picking up a calf injury against Everton.

The Hulk will now miss the vital games against Blackburn (away on Saturday) and Wigan (at home on Monday).

Martin O'Neill said of the Norway international:

'Big John is going to be out. He has picked up a calf injury which is a big blow to us. A scan yesterday morning came up with something and he will miss the Easter programme. He will definitely be a loss to us. We will have to change our game. We will have to change our strategy in some aspects, of course.'

'But these are Premiership games and we have got to get on with it. We have options, and obviously without John we will adjust our game. Carew's absence means Luke Moore and Juan Pablo Angel are on standby to face Blackburn at Ewood Park tomorrow. I haven't even thought about it because the news has only just reached me about Carew. It opens the door for someone anyway.'

Gulp, games we need something out of and we are losing the only player who has looked like scoring.

Striker/wingerAshley Young (dead leg) and defender Gary Cahill (side injury?) are also rated as doubtful and Liam Ridgewell is also injured.

are now major doubts ahead of the trip to Blackburn, while Liam Ridgewell also looks set to miss out.

O'Neill said "They'll both travel, but I would have to say they're looking pretty doubtful at this moment. Liam Ridgewell also has a foot injury that forced him out of the reserves on Tuesday, so we're got one or two problems. But it's up to us to handle that."

I might go and cry for a while now!

Carew will be a big miss! Not sure if Easter will be enjoyable for you lot :-)

Look on the bright side - the team were beginning to play as if everything had to go through Carew. Without him someone else may take responsibility - I hope!

I bet Angel and Luke are just dying to get in there. Hopefully, they'll be inspired to score. I'm not worried. Not yet anyway...

The Gods of luck would not p*ss on the villa if we were on fire at the moment.Roll on next season.Anyone got a four leaf clover they can send into Martin!!

As much as the Hulk missing out could benefit Rovers I have to admit I'm disappointed that he won't play a part. I was well looking forward to a clash of the giants. The Hulk verses the Wall (Christopher Samba - AKA the Beast) would have been a sight to behold!?!? Maybe I won't go away and cry like the Fear is contemplating but I'm certainly upset!!!

An opportunity for a.n. other to step up to the plate and do the business. JPA and Luke have no doubt been itching for an opportunity to stake a claim, well now they've got one (presumably).

We actually may keep the ball on the turf now????

Yes, its ironic. John Carew has made such a favourable impression since his arrival, winning over the supporters with his skill, effort, ability, and commitment to the cause, yet his arrival has brought about the 'hoof the ball up front' style that seems to be getting us nowhere.

It`s not about luck! Everyone has injuries and we`ve been fairly lucky with that this season - Jesus,we`ve had 31 games to sort ourselves out, slightly worried MON hasn`t thought about other options anyway as we`ve been running Carew into the flippin ground since he came so it`s a good job he`s built like a racehorse!
