Hendrie In Limbo

Lee Hendrie is hoping he has done enough to stay in the first team following his performance in the 1-0 win over Hull in the FA Cup third round.

The 29 year old midfielder, who has suffered from a stop start season due to injuries and an early season suspension. He has since fallen down the pecking order behind loan duo Eirik Bakke (Leeds) and in form James Milner (Newcastle) but put in a good performance against the Tigers, including a crucial goal line clearance.

He told the official site: 'I just hope I've done enough to keep my place.' Adding 'From my point of view, it was nice to be back involved in the first team, but I don't know where I go from here. I'm in a bit of limbo to be honest. The transfer window is open so we'll see what happens. I'm a Villa boy, I've been here for 10 years and the last thing I want to do is leave.'

Hendrie has been linked to loan moves to Wolverhampton Wanderers and Southampton and more recently to permanent moves to Tottenham and Portsmouth. However O'Leary will be wanting to keep hold of the midfielder as the manager has been told there will be no new arrivals whether he sells players or not.
