Barry Out For Win - Rafa Wary

Gareth Barry says he will turn the disappointment of not being selected by Steve McClaren for England's 23-man squad to positive use and take it out on Liverpool tomorrow.

He told the official site: 'We can take a lot of positives from the Arsenal game and take them into Liverpool - I don't think we've seen them camped in their own half for that long. Liverpool are another hard team to break down so if we're going to get our chances, we need to take them tomorrow.'

'Hopefully something will give - we've just got to keep performing like that. We know they're going to be solid and hard to break down, but it's been a while since we beat them and if we play like we did against Arsenal, and create the chances we did and apply the pressure that we put them under then tomorrow's a great game for it to come together.'

Adding: 'It's all about scoring goals and taking chances and we had a couple of good chances and a few half chances and we're not scoring enough goals.'

Meanwhile Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez says John Carew is the man they will be watching out for. 'I know all about John Carew. He is part of a very different Aston Villa now. They have quality in midfield, pace up front and a good team with a good manager who has experience. Carew was a very good signing for them. He has pace and is a good player for the English game and Villa. He is good in the air and physically strong to handle the game here.'

Big JC has the ability and experience to worry the very best, but to really make the most of his efforts and contribution to the claret and blue cause, he needs a quality striker alongside him. Someone to pick up the pieces, the flick ons, the knock downs.

He definitely started to look frustrated towards the end of the Liverpool game. We have to go for the win, and playing JC as our lone striker isn't the way forward. Come on MON, we have to be more adventurous against Everton.
