The Villa Times 09/09/05

Not been a fat long going on news wise, but here is what there is!

Berger says Baros will be a success and that Liverpool have released their best striker. Berger is also desperate to kick start his Villa career having missed the first few games. His super sub performance helped wet the appetite for fans, that is for sure!

Early indications suggest that new signing Bouma may have been bought mainly for the left back spot. Samuel has warned Bouma that he won't give up his place easily. However, we all know how far off the boil Jlloyd has gone, so maybe a time on the bench could be what he needs! 'People can say Wilfred Bouma's been brought here for big money and he's here to provide a threat. But at the end of the day I've just got to do what I think is my best and as long as I'm doing that hopefully I'll stay in the team. I'm enjoying playing left-back and that's where I want to stake my claim. I've got two years left on my contract and I'm more than happy here,' And we all know what happens after that, he loses his place, we don't extend his contract and he leaves on a free.

Laursen has said how frustrated he is with the injury because he knows he can be a big success in the Prem. All recent reports have rubbished claims that his injury could spell the end of his career.

Jumper Jumper says the competition for places is good and that playing means more to him than money.

Villa's reserves beat Wigan 2-1 on Tuesday with Luke Moore and Gabriel Agbonlahor scoring.

Fighting talk from Hughes - who played well for Northern Ireland this week! Doesn't look like Delaney will get his spot back any time soon. 'I made the right decision as I was not guaranteed a place at Newcastle. With Villa though I know as long as I am performing every week I will be the right-back. Everything is going fine. This is a well-run club and from day one they had made me part of the family.'

John Gregory has been linked with the Plymouth job.

Angel is ready for a fight saying: 'I know what I am capable of and I want to be playing my part in helping this club get into Europe,'

A London Villa Supporters Club has been set up. For more info email: cm_nee@hotmail.com

Millner was disappointed at not being around to play with Owen but says he is excited at playing with the quality players Villa have and adds 'The loan move should hopefully give me some first-team experience and it is great that it is at a massive club like Villa.'

Solano has shocked Newcastle by saying he might return to the International team having said he had retired.......HA HA!

Thought for the day: You're getting old when you get the same sensation from a rocking chair that you once got from a roller coaster.
