'Brilliant' Carew Praised By Boss

'Brilliant' Carew Praised By Boss

Villa boss Martin O'Neill hasn't particularly been quick to praise the new strikers in any massive way, but has now obviously seen he has something really special on his hands.

'I thought he was absolutely brilliant. He was a handful all afternoon; he has been a handful for the opposition every single time he has played.

'He can play it, he can get it down, he can control it and he made a wonderful chance for himself at the end which forced a great save by Antti Niemi.'

Carew has been an absolute pain in the arse to the Premiership so far, not quite Didier Drogba yet but it's fairly obvious as to why Juan Pablo Angel can't get a look in at the moment.

We need others to start scoring too, a goal a game (if we score at all) just isn't good enough, especially the way our defence is leaking goals at the moment.

exactly, we have a great history of big centre forwards (except ormondroyd and cascarino!!), theres no reason he couldnt be held in the same regard. in the meantime we should all bombard hsi official site - http://www.milanbaros.cz and thank him for going, allowing us the chance to bask under the glorious light that big john emanates. or something of that ilk....

I hope he maintains the current run of form long into his Villa career. He is on fire but as stated he cant be the only one contributing to Villas goal tally, maybe other players think the responsibility has been removed from them to score.

Looking for 15+ league goals from Big Bad John next season... no pressure big lad! I agree with col8, goals from midfield are especially lacking. We require that engine room that we've had in the past (Richardson, Taylor, Parker, Draper, Thompson, Townsend, Houghton, Platt and the likes) - someone box-to-box - hope your listening Stan Petrov! Anyway, this articles about Carew's good work, keep it up big man!

His performance at CC was his best all round showing in his brief VP career to date.

He certainly doesn't come across as the arrogrant, insular individual that he was portrayed to be prior to his move to B6. Another classic case of why you shouldn't believe all you read in the media.
