Berger On Future & Aston Villa

Patrik Berger will wait until the summer before making a decision on his future. I must say that isn't really convenient for me, I need to know if he is staying or not as I don't want to get a new picture for the site if he off!!!!!!

Martin O'Neill hinted the Czech midfielder might have a future at Villa last week and said he was enjoying a fresh leash of life. O'Neill Hints At Berger Villa Future

33-year-old Berger said: 'There is a possibility of me going to America. I know there's interest but I can't say anything at the moment because nothing is finalised. I've played against Beckham over the years, but if I go to the States, I won't be going there because of him - I'm going there because I want to go there for my career.'

Adding: 'My deal is up in the summer and I just need to be fit and available every weekend for the manager and then we'll see what happens. There's no pressure. I don't want to quit the game - I want to carry on. For the first time in two years, I haven't been injured now for quite a long time, so if I have the opportunity, I'd like to carry on.'

'As for where, I don't know and I'm not really thinking about it at the moment. Right now, I don't want to think about anything else. I still have my deal here and I'm prepared to help Villa finish as high as we can in the table. I will see what the manager has on the table for me at the end of the season. Then I'll sit down with the family and do what's best for them and make my decision.'

He also says he is happy at Villa again explaining on the official site: 'The manager has told me if he needs me, he'll use me and he's used me in each of the last four games so I've been thrilled with that. Three weeks ago, I wouldn't have imagined I'd still be playing for the first team. I'm enjoying it and I don't mind playing for the reserves. I'm happy to be back and happy to play - even if it's only 10-15 minutes and I feel in the last four games I've played my part.'

Berger was a great player once and he has done well when he has come on for us a couple of times this season. But, he's too old now and we can do better than him.

Bad signing. We've got better and younger players so lefts get rid of him. I'll even help him to pack if he likes.

he was never a long term fix so thats a one way ticket to america pls

His age is definitely against him, despite the fact that the ability is still there. Obviously if he can secure himself a decent two or three year deal Stateside or wherever, then he needs to go down that route, as he's never going to get anything more than a 12 month extension here at Villa Park. We need to be looking to the future anyhow, and although Patrik might be fit and performing right now, how long will that scenario last?

I personally dont think he has a future at the club, If more players are coming to the club in the Summer its hard to see where he would fit in. One more year for Berger is optomistic.

LA Galaxy chasing Aston Villa's Berger tribalfooball.com - February 23, 2007 LA Galaxy are chasing Aston Villa attacking midfielder Patrik Berger. The Mirror says Berger, 33, is out of contract in the summer and MLS side Galaxy hope the ex-Liverpool ace can partner David Beckham in midfield next season. The Czech Republic international has featured in Villa's last four games after being on loan at Stoke. But Berger insisted: "There is a possibility of me going to America but if I go it won't be because of Beckham." ,,,,, JUST THE MONEY THEN PATRICK
