Bouma and Carew Boost

Martin O'Neill has revealed that Wilfred Bouma and John Carew have both resumed light training at Bodymoor Heath.

Bouma has been out for nearly 6 months after sustaining a dislocated ankle in our Intertwobob match against Odense, and Carew has been out for a good few weeks with a back problem.

Speaking on the official site, O'Neill said:

'Freddie Bouma has done a bit of training with us. It has been very light.

'No-one, including Freddie, would want to be getting carried away with things but it's very encouraging.

'John has been out on the training field too. Again, it's encouraging news.'

Very good news. Good enough news in fact, to raise a couple of cold 'uns later this evening, to toast the good health of Messrs Freddie and Big JC. That we need them back in the mix, fully fit and raring to go, is not open to debate. We need bodies, and bodies with the ability and capabilities of Big JC and Freddie are doubly welcome.

That Inter-Toto game, and the sickening injury to Freddie, seems a long, long time ago. Considerably more than six months. Its been a long road back for Freddie, and there's still a lot of hard work to come. As we all know, that was a very nasty injury. All credit to the guy for coming to terms with the injury, and fighting his way back to where he is today. He's still some way away from first team duty, but at least he can now see light at the end of what must have seemed, a very dark tunnel.

It'll be good to be at the game he (Freddie) comes back at, what a reception he'll get!! Big John has also been missed but ain't Gabby come of age while he's been injured.

Few more quotes about the two earlier in the week. Click Here Was in line for Freddies injury and it was horrible. Was also nasty seeing the other players struggling to cope. They were given drinks and made to take deep breathes etc as some looked like they were about to hurl.
The Fear
I still think Gabby really needs big John to play off - those two are a seriously effective front line. As for Freddie, please PLEASE get back to full fitness soon ! I will admit I doubted him when he first joined, but his performances for a few months up until he got crocked proved to me how solid at the back he is/ Two welcome reinforcements in our campaign for Champs League footie next year !
