Laursen's Disappointment

Laursen's Disappointment

Martin Laursen has revealed that he is desperately disappointed that he won't be able to be an ever present for two seasons on the trot.

After his lengthy knee troubles the other year, Laursen surprised everyone by being an ever present in our team last season and it has become clear he had his sights trained on playing in every match during this campaign.

Speaking to SSN, Laursen said:

'It's always frustrating to miss games and that was certainly the case for me when I had to sit out the last two Premier League fixtures of 2008 with a knee injury.

'Before then I'd enjoyed an unbroken league run stretching back to April 2007 and I'd had my sights set on becoming an ever present for the second consecutive season.

'But my knee felt sore after the game at West Ham just before Christmas.

'It was clear I'd taken some sort of knock at Upton Park and our medical men felt it was best for me to rest a while.

'Unfortunately that meant my target of playing in every league game had gone.'

While that may be the case, he has only missed two games and if that run continues until the end of the season I doubt Laursen will be that disappointed.

What a rock that man is. A team of guys with that kind attitude would finish top every season. Just as long as he's back soon to help our title push this season. YES WE CAN

I know I won't be disappointed if he only misses 2 games in a season. Heck he could get the flu and miss more than that so 2 games for a knock is nothing. Let's just hope he keeps it to just 2.

Back soon Andy? He was back on Saturday.

He's done so well, maybe a match or two off won't hurt him in some ways? Always feel far more secure when the rock is in the centre though.

I thiught he was not upto his usual high standard on Saturday, with a few miss placed passes and was caught out of position. Still think he's a class act though and gives Davies more confidence then when zat and curtis are in the middle.

Did he only get a one year extension of his contract last summer? I think he did. If so he could walk like Mellberg. Unless there is something seriously wrong with he's knees that they are not telling us about, I hope someone remembers to ask him for his signature sometime soon!

I can't see him walking, he loves the Villa almost as much as we love him, may he be the first recipient of bionic knees and play forever, an icon

Hopefully he'll be secured soon if not already, what a player. He really is world class (not a phrase to be handed out lightly I don't think!)
