That Manchester United Feeling.
There has been a lot said on this site and others, about the way we have won our past four or five games. Mr. Mowbray's recent comments (Click Here) about us 'not interested in playing football' are ludicrous and reflect what must be a frustrating time for the boys from Sandwell.
A lot of fans and pundits admit that villa have been somewhat fortunate in getting recent wins against Hull, West Ham and to some extent, the Baggies; (Although statistically we created far more chances.)
I agree that we have not been at our free flowing best in the past few games, however we have still come away with victories. This is what we have been lacking in previous seasons. Oppositions have worked us out yet we still win the game of football, home or away. This is testament to MON and even more so to the players, who do not give the opposition a second's rest.
The title of the article sums up my feelings on the matter. If Manchester United had been in the form that we have been in, pundits would be all over it stating that it's championship form. The old cliché that 'You're not at your best, but still winning games,' would be banded about the papers. Because it's Villa, pundits are calling us lucky and can't seem to fathom where the wins are coming from and more importantly seem to be calling time on our run.
Do not misinterpret this article, we aren't going to win the title this year. We don't have the depth of squad to compete on a European front as well as a league and domestic cup. But we're turning into what United (love them or loathe them) have been doing under Ferguson for the last ten years and that's winning, whether we deserve to or not. This is what we've been waiting for, a winning Villa side. Crowds upwards of 37,000 every week say that our football isn't garbage, it's some of the best in the league. I wouldn't change it for anything.
