Time for Martin O'Neill to be sacked and for us to replace him with West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Mowbray I think.
Oh no, sorry, my mistake. It is Villa who are 3rd and in the UEFA and FA Cup. The Baggies (sadly) are on their way back down to the Championship. And yet Mowbray has had a dig following the 2-1 derby defeat saying Villa have no interest in playing football.
I'm sorry, can you repeat that Mowbray? It is no wonder the football phone in shows have Baggies fans ringing in baffled by their manager and saying he doesn't know what he is doing!
The Baggies boss, obviously having taken some of the bitter pills that Adrian Chiles enjoys when talking about Villa, said in the
The Express:
'They have got Ashley Young and Gabriel Agbonlahor. They are a counter-attacking team. They are not really interested in playing football. That is why teams like us are a dream for Aston Villa because we try to retain the ball and move it around. There is space for them to break. That game epitomised us. We had plenty of the ball, moved it around well, and they were only a threat on the counter-attack. They were not creating any clear-cut chances and yet they found themselves 2-0 up.'
Adding, 'Villa are winning games. Everyone has got their own beliefs on how to play football and ultimately it is only results that matter to people. Villa are winning games and good luck to them. But all their chances came from breakaway football. That is what they do.'
Are we there to entertain or are we there to win? I must admit he is going against many of the pundits words of praise for Villa this year (fair enough games like Hull were dull affairs but even then, we got what was needed, a win). Most pundits seem to have taken to us and say we play entertaining, exciting football and have goals a-plenty.
We don't play football but are 3rd, they do and they are going down. Hmmm. Ok. MON out!
