Villa Not Interested In Playing Football?! LOL

Time for Martin O'Neill to be sacked and for us to replace him with West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Mowbray I think.

Oh no, sorry, my mistake. It is Villa who are 3rd and in the UEFA and FA Cup. The Baggies (sadly) are on their way back down to the Championship. And yet Mowbray has had a dig following the 2-1 derby defeat saying Villa have no interest in playing football.

I'm sorry, can you repeat that Mowbray? It is no wonder the football phone in shows have Baggies fans ringing in baffled by their manager and saying he doesn't know what he is doing!

The Baggies boss, obviously having taken some of the bitter pills that Adrian Chiles enjoys when talking about Villa, said in the
The Express:

'They have got Ashley Young and Gabriel Agbonlahor. They are a counter-attacking team. They are not really interested in playing football. That is why teams like us are a dream for Aston Villa because we try to retain the ball and move it around. There is space for them to break. That game epitomised us. We had plenty of the ball, moved it around well, and they were only a threat on the counter-attack. They were not creating any clear-cut chances and yet they found themselves 2-0 up.'

Adding, 'Villa are winning games. Everyone has got their own beliefs on how to play football and ultimately it is only results that matter to people. Villa are winning games and good luck to them. But all their chances came from breakaway football. That is what they do.'

Are we there to entertain or are we there to win? I must admit he is going against many of the pundits words of praise for Villa this year (fair enough games like Hull were dull affairs but even then, we got what was needed, a win). Most pundits seem to have taken to us and say we play entertaining, exciting football and have goals a-plenty.

We don't play football but are 3rd, they do and they are going down. Hmmm. Ok. MON out!

Well my lad enjoyed the game and at the end was glad that he's a Villan not a YamYam.

He's completley deluded, all I ever hear is how WBA shouldn't have to compromise on their brand of attractive football. They are a shambles in defense, and are inaffective up front.Well organised midfield and defensive play can be beautiful when done correctly. We had twice as many shots on goal than they did.And a guy from Arsenal was ther best player.Stoke are a much better than them.

What a bitter deluded boggie. I wonder if he watched MOTD. Did you see the stats/chances etc. At one point at the start of the 2nd half we had 3 great chances to regain out 2 goal cushion (Young, Agbonlahor & Barry). The move for A.Young's 1 on 1 was particularly well made with great vision & lovely waited pass from Milner to Young.

Someone better tell Capello to stop picking Barry, Young and Agbonlahor - get Luke Moore, Greening and Clement in instead. They're obviously much better footballers.

We should get Mowbray as director of football then he can tell MON what to do and with which players while MON handles the day to day stuff like jogging, dribbling in and out of cones etc.

Strange, I heard one pundit say exactly the opposite. That the Baggies playing 2 rows of 4 at the back proved hard for Villa to break down. If anyone was trying to play counter attacking football, surely it was the Baggies. I was very suprised after the game to see that they had so much possesion. But if you look at the rest of the stats they did nothing with it. Stangely if you listen to Mowbrays words on BBC it was very different. He was complaining that WBA having no quality up front. Having said all that, Usually I admire Mowbray for not making any excuses, and personally I do think they are a better team than their position in the league represents. They have had some bad luck, particularly the injury of Ismael Miller. But yesterday, Villa were clearly better, even though they didn't perform anywhere near their best IMO! UTV!

Mowbray has a point when he says that to stop villa you just park the bus (same for every team I would have thought) He is wrong when he says that is all we do though. I would like to see us sign a player that can offer us something different in these situations. Like that Croation fella at Portsmouth.

He did have a point about our style of play but many good teams have played the same over the years and i thought we played quite well Saturday, funny how WBA went long ball for last 10mins with their centre half upfront ? Seems Mowbray thought that would be more effective than passing the ball around aimlessly getting no-where that they normally play like !

This bloke doesn't have a clue, we can play in many different ways and we'll do whatever it takes to get the three points. We had Arsenal playing for the counter and for half of the game they didn't have a shot. I personally don't think WBA's football is too attractive, nothing like some of the stuff we come out with. This guy should take a few classes in how to lose gracefully because this isn't making him or his team look very good at all.

Any team can pass round in circles in the middle of the pitch but what is the point ? You aren't going to score any goals. They only looked dangerous when the big guy came on, says it all.

Mowbray is starting to believe this media crap that his bottom of the league outfit is actually a footballing team, and in doing so, is clearly getting way above his station. The ramblings of a worried man.

How many times was Brad called upon to save the day? How many times were our defence breached? If goal number one for us was route one 'breakaway' football then my near firty years of watching AVFC have taught me absolutely nothing. Anyway, if Mowbray knows how we play, how limited we are, and knows our potential TWO threats, then how come his shower weren't properly prepared to nullify us?
