'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Albion Or Benfica?

Sunny Portugal or Wet West Bromwich - it's not really a choice is it and it wasn't for Zat Knight either.

Speaking to the Evening Mail ahead of our derby clash this weekend, Zat Knight has explained that if the lure of Benfica hadn't been an influence he may have stayed at the Baggies following a months trial.

"I wouldn`t say they were one of my old clubs but I did have a trial with them when I was younger.

"It didn`t go too badly but around the same time I had the chance to have a trial in Portugal with Benfica - and, no, it wasn`t too hard a decision to make."

As for the derby, this will be Knight's first playing experience if selected, and he is looking forward to experiencing the atmosphere from on the pitch.

"It should be a good game, I`m sure it will be a typical derby with both teams desperate to win.

"We beat them 2-1 at their place but I didn`t play so hopefully I will get to play against them this time."

Zat has looked the part since he came into the side following the injury to Martin Laursen. Clearly his overall performance against the Arsenal, arguably his best showing in the claret and blue, gave him a boost of much needed confidence, and its fair to say that he hasn't let anyone, himself or the club, down. Much maligned by some, I think that Zat is a much better central defender, than many seem willing to give him credit for.
