Agent Confirms Canella Interest

Eugenio Botas, Roberto Canella's agent, has said to Setnata Sports that Aston Villa are keen on the 20 year old leftback.

The old adage of on the shirt, in the pitch or however it goes is still abundantly true and it's not unknown for an agent to attempt to spark interest in a client at times like these, but it's interesting nontheless.

"If Aston Villa put all the money on the table, all the parts will have to make a decision."

Rumours would have it that Villa are interested in making a £10 million bid yet Sporting Gijon value him at £11 million.

Canella has spoken about the assumed interest from Villa himself:

"I had no idea of this news, that`s the first time I hear about it. I`m happy at Sporting, focused on fighting to stay up, so that kind of stuff must be discussed by my agent and by Sporting.

"For sure it`s always a pleasure when such a club as Aston Villa, with the history they have, are interested in you, and it means that both the team and myself aredoing things the right way.

"I`m proud but focused on Sporting."

£11million always sounds like a lot of money for a defender, particularly a full back. But then again, in the age where Wayne Bridge can go to Man City for a rumoured £14million after getting splinters in his arse at Chelsea for four years, interspersed with the occasional England appearance, I guess I shouldn't be surprised. At least this fellow is only 20 and consistently playinf first team football. Fingers crossed this is true, be interesting to see who gets the nod once Freddy's fit.

when freddy is fit he will player cannella in goal, l .young up front, gabby at left back, and bouma at right back. hahahahahahahahaha I digress.

Its in the shirt, on the pitch.

You lot need to stop that now, we're in 4th while playing people 'out of position'. Its not that big a deal they're footballers and MON can play them where he likes. I happen to think Luke Young makes a fairly decent left back

PTP - I see your point. However, Nigel Reo-Coker makes an absolutely terrible right back..

Never heard of the guy, so I cant comment about his abilities or capabilities. Doesn't sound much like an MON signing though, so until the guy has signed on the dotted, then I for one will treat the rumour with the disdain it no doubt deserves.

While I accept and understand that we cannot ignore any opportunity to strengthen throughout the team, I would hope that our January efforts are focused on bringing in a couple of new strikers, players who are proven at this level, and can immediately offer us the options and alternatives that are currently lacking.

J.Villan, I believe VItal Villan may have been mixing up the old adage for comic effect. ;)
