'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Told You The Upson Link Was Rubbish!

Ha, not often I can say 'I told you so' but this time I can! You can always rely on Vital Villa!

The Villa have denied any bid or enquiry for West Ham defender Matthew Upson.

Martin O'Neill said: 'There is not an ounce of truth in it whatsoever.'

I said earlier in the article Upson Rubbish & Other Villa Transfer Talk:

Sky Sports are claiming that Aston Villa have had a 11million bid rejected by West Ham for Matthew Upson. I understand this is not the case, I don't think we are in the market for a central defender and I don't believe any bid has been made. Sky also claim The England international is wanted by Manchester City, Tottenham and Arsenal. They further claim Villa will increase the bid towards the 16million that the Hammers want. I stand to be corrected but have reason to believe this is simply not happening.

Proof at last that I don't always talk rubbish, just usually!

You did have to stop and wonder exactly why another central defender would be high on our list of priorities.

Oh, and just to prove that I am one of the crowd, may I add the words, 'Thank God for that'. Even though I dont actually think that Matty Upson is too shabby a defender. The very thought though of both Upson and Emile Heskey sporting the claret and blue is enough to send me to an early grave, particularly as it might persuade MON to bring Jermaine Pennant on board too. Just imagine that.

Would be nice to buy him and put him on the bench just so the likes of Arsenal can't have him. The new Chelsea.
