'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Lawro Says 1-1 v Arsenal (and is wrong!)

Ha, Mark Lawrenson has been wrong quite a bit lately about Villa and result predictions and I think he's wrong again as he is predicting a 1-1 draw in the Boxing day clash between Aston Villa and Arsenal

He told the BBC site:

'This is a big game. Aston Villa have struggled to win more at home because teams tend to play deeper to negate the pace threat of Ashley Young and Gabriel Agbonlahor.

Arsenal have to be able to defend better than they did against Liverpool if they want to come away from Villa Park with a point. I think they will, but that means Villa will stay above them.'

Meanwhile Martin O’Neill says that others can write off Arsenal as much as they want, he won't be making that mistake.

'I just think you cannot write them off because they are too talented a team. If they do not have the same consistency as last season any defeat this season will be looked upon as a dropping off, but who can say that they will not go on to take the Champions League?'

Adding, following our 2-0 win at the Emirates 'If we could win the game it would give us a major psychological boost. It would an amazing double if that were to be the case.'

Hopefully Murph won't be full of too much Christmas spirt and will front up later with a match preview.

Should have been lincolnblue, 2-1, 3-1, 4-1, take your pick. Great fight back from two-zip down, but I cant help feeling that we'll come to look back on this as two points dropped.

Lawrensons predictions seem to have been a little more near the mark in recent weeks, not just for us, but across the premiership as a whole. Practice makes perfect I guess.
