Martin O'Neill has told Sky Sports that he thinks it is just a matter of time before James Milner gets and England call up and says the player has a fantastic heart. Vital Villa asked in our last poll whether Martin O'Neill was right to field an understrength team in the UEFA Cup game v Hamburg. Seems he was, as 63% voted yes! That left 22% saying they'd have hated it if they had travelled to the game and 9% saying no he wasn't right. The 6% remaining voted 'time will tell!'

Martin O'Neill says he has heard nothing from Real Madrid following rumours that they had an interest in Villa winger Ashley Young. He told AVTV: Simply put, he's not for sale. He's just signed a new contract with us. I think this is exactly where he should be in this stage of his development and we're hoping we can all develop together. That's our aim. But I suppose the people at the football club and Ashley himself should take some reflected glory in it [the story], if in fact there is anything in it. But remember, we are getting to the old silly season. Not that the story is silly, just that we are going to be linked with a host of players ourselves and some of our players will be linked with other football clubs too.'

Martin O'Neill has spoken about the UEFA Cup clash with CSKA Moscow telling the official site: 'I think the draw is very tough. They won all four games in their group and I think it will be exceptionally difficult. When it comes round, we will give it plenty of thought.' Luke Young is looking for some Christmas cheer and hopes Villa can push to 3rd place in the Premier League. He said in the Express & Star: 'If we can win we would go third with Manchester United away in Japan, that would be lovely and almost unbelievable at this stage. It would be an early Christmas. It is exciting. In the squad we are not getting too carried away because there is such a long, long way to go in the season. But at the minute the league table doesn`t lie, we are fourth, having a real good go and we are winning games.'

CSKA Moscow eh? Now theres a tie that will well and truly test us, but its the type of european game we've been craving for some time now, so hopefully the lads will do us proud. Then we'd face a much easier task against Harry Redknapp's lot, providing of course that they can successfully negotiate their tie against Shakhtar Donetsk, no easy ask, that.

Real Madrid and our very own Ashley Young eh? Whats this? Juande Ramos attempting to make his mark. Cant see too much in this, certainly not at the current time anyway. One day perhaps Ash might decide to savour the delights of football abroad, but hopefully he will remain at Brummagem B6 for a few more seasons yet.
