Villa Boss Says Milner Has A 'Fantastic Heart'

Villa Boss Says Milner Has A 'Fantastic Heart'

Martin O'Neill has told Sky Sports that he thinks it is just a matter of time before James Milner gets and England call up.

O'Neill said: 'I am naturally very pleased for James after what Fabio said. That will have given him a further boost of confidence. Is he ready for an England call-up? I am sure in time that will come. He has got the ability. He feels he has got much more to give and much more to learn. But he is making very good progress at the moment. I accept the point that if Fabio says anything about any player he likes, then it is raging headlines.'

And on the £12million purchase from Newcastle United, he says he is like minded to the England boss!

'He mentioned Milner and says he likes him. I would say 'Snap', because I paid some money to Newcastle for him. I have been delighted with him. He has still to realise his potential, he knows that himself. Even at this moment, he feels there is much more to give this season.'

He also says that Milner has shown strength and determination in playing so hard whilst not being well.

'He has given everything. Before the Everton game he could hardly stand up and played when other players would have chosen not to. Then he had no training at all before the Bolton game last weekend and played again. He has got a fantastic heart.'

I love the spirit Milner has, he is a battler, even when he isn't bang on form, he is still involved and fighting.

Relax lerneravfc. I would not be complaining, I am more than happy with NRC's performances earlier on this year with Milner breathing down his back. Is NRC so bad that you can't play him when Milner can barely stand cause of the flu? You can have a fantastic heart but a ***** performance when you're sick.

I have to agree that it seems a little strange to play someone who is as sick as MON suggests. However I do love Milner. Another great bit of business from MON. I'm well excited about January. Just imagine who we might get if we can win our next two games!

I like James Milner, think he's exactly the right player needed to fill that problem right wing position, and it was an excellent piece of business by MON to bring him onboard this past summer. Always gives his all for the team, I think he'll rapidly develop into becoming a firm Villa Park favourite.

Mart certainly knows when to give his players that little verbal boost, to help get them firing on all cylinders. He certainly doesn't suffer fools gladly, and woe betide you if you cross him, but he's loyal to his charges if they give their all for the club in return.
