Villa Draw Shakhtar or Spurs in UEFA

Aston Villa will face Shakhtar Donetsk or Spurs in the last 16 of the UEFA Cup, with the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium slowly coming into sight.

Should Villa over come CSKA Moscow in the round of the last 32 teams in this, the final UEFA Cup tournament, they will then go on to face either the Ukrainian Champions, or enter into an all-English affair with leg one on the 12th and leg two the 18/19 of March 2009.

Hopefully next year they can at least attempt to simplify the draw, which seems to be an utterly confusing mess of Eurozone randomness!

The last 16 draw, in full:

Werder Bremen/AC Milan v Olympiakos/St Etienne
Aston Villa/CSKA Moscow v Shakhtar Donetsk/Spurs
Lech Poznan/Udinese v Zenit St Petersburg/VfB Stuttgart
Paris St Germain/Wolfsburg v Braga/Standard Liege
Dynamo Kiev/Valencia v Sampdoria/Metalist Kharkiv
FC Copenhagen/Manchester City v Aalborg/Deportivo La Coruna
Marseille v FC Twente v Fiorentina/Ajax
NEC Nijmegen/Hamburg v Bordeaux v FC Galatasaray

A powerful Ukrainian team or what would be a tricky tie against Spurs. Not the best but we have to beat someone on our way to Istanbul don`t we!

If Villa didn't have my support in the Wafer cup (which they did) then this has more than pushed it over the edge!!!! Go on lads, do the whole world a favour!!!

Moulth watering tie IF we both make it, which is far from certain given the tough draws. Good luck, see you in the last 16 ;-)

thanks Rocky, thought you might say that!!!!!!!!!!!

CSKA will be a massive task for Villa, I would make them slight favourites over the two legs, although I wonder if their winter break will be a help or hindrence..
