A Dose Of Reality From A Villa Fan

A Dose Of Reality From A Villa Fan

Hello, been a while since I have posted anything so here goes a little rant about the game last night and in general really.

Martin Jol was quoted as saying that Villa’s team selection was ‘arrogant’ {he did admit this was just to get his players up for it. ed} but I am sure if MON had the next 6 weeks off for a winter break he would have put out a stronger side like Hamburg did.

Now, I was disappointed as anyone about the result but we must face the facts that we don’t have a big squad but they’re a great bunch of lads (David O’Leary eat your heart out) and it was great to see some new faces on the bench, I haven’t seen Barry Bannan play before but that was a great plus point, he seemed confident going forward and good on the ball. Delfounso unfortunately was played a little out of position in the first half but still did ok in the second.

It was also great to hear Martin O'Neill speaking with the fans on Tuesday to justify his squad selection. He knows how much it costs to go to one of these games.

Anyway, I'm not too down hearted about the game, its just a shame for the fans who travelled out there (including a couple of mates and they were on tv when celebrating our goal) but I know they will be able to justify the team selection especially with some massive games coming up but still must be disappointing.

West Ham is always tough and then Arsenal at home, which brings me onto my next point.

Now seen on here about why were not classed as a top 4 team. We have to earn it. Everton and Spurs have over the recent seasons been touted as the teams to break into the champion’s league with Everton doing this once in how many attempts?

Lets not forget how many league and cups Arsene Wenger has won in his time in charge and he wont be giving it up lightly nor his players. Lets keep supporting the players and egging (is that a word?) them on over the Christmas period with some Christmas cheer.

The game I am most nervous about is Hull. As it is the Villa, what will normally happen is we will get results against West Ham and Arsenal and then screw it up in the next game.

Anyway, until I comment next. Merry Xmas Villa fans.

We best not bloody lose to Hull, i will never hear the end of it.

Interesting read, although I have to say that I am one of the minority that will disagree with your observations. We should never have put our name forward for entry into the Inter-Toto Cup if this was going to be our approach. We knew the heavy workload we would face, its not as though the UEFA Cup has crept up on us unannounced.

Dont worry about Hull City young_jonah or Upthevilla_83. A team in decline, they'll be fighting against the drop before the month of January is out. Lack of quality throughout their squad, they are a Championship side through and through. They wont trouble us.
