Michael Owen Tops The Vital Villans Wish List!

Vital Villa asked, in a poll suggested by apache and deano.avfc:

If MON decides to shop 'locally' which striker should we go for in Jan?

Looks like the majority want to see Villa take the gamble on Newcastle and former England striker Michael Owen who got 55% of the vote.

18% went for Roque Santa Cruz from Blackburn and 8% opted for Jermain Defoe who was available last January from Spurs (and subsequently moved to Portsmouth who now appear to need to balance the books somewhat.

Full results:

Michael Owen (out of contract soon) (55%)
Roque Santa Cruz (club needs money) (18%)
Jermain Defoe (club needs money) (8%)
Robbie Keane (out of favour) (4%)
Dean Ashton (club needs money) (4%)
Amr Zaki (seeking permanent move) (3%)
Peter Crouch (club needs money) (3%)
Kevin Doyle (surely would want big move) (2%)
Emile Heskey (out of contract soon) (2%)
David Nugent (out of favour/club needs money) (1%)
Benni McCarthy (club needs money) (0%)
Benjani (surely being replaced) (0%)
Craig Bellamy (club needs money) (0%)

I'd love him, but can we afford the required wage structure?
evoflash
I think the next month may show whether Owen is a football man or a money grabber. Depending on whether the Mancs (both clubs!) and Chelsea go for him, would he choose Villa or Everton offering a salary of 70k a week, and clubs that year on year perform better than Newcastle, or will he sign on the dotted line for a reported 90k a week wage? I think he may be prepared to take a wage cut in order to try and win things?

Isn't he on 105k a week at Newcastle....

He is on 120k isnt he?
Tez86
120k according to the BBC. I personally feel he will be at Liverpool next season.
