O'Neill Rubbishes Young - Real Madrid Rumours

Martin O'Neill has stated categorically that Ashley Young is not for sale after newspaper reports suggested Real Madrid would be tabling an offer in January.

A national newspaper, which should tell you everything, has said that Juande Ramos is preparing to submit an offer in the region of £27 million to take Young to Real.

Putting the rumours to bed, O'Neill said simply:

'I don't know anything about it but he's certainly not for sale.'

And why would he be. Young has had moments of sheer brilliance since his move from Watford and he can only improve and is improving. Not only is the offer suggested woefully short in financial terms for what maybe could tempt O'Neill to cash in, but moreover, O'Neill is building a squad and as can be seen by the Barry saga he has no intention of letting players he rates leave, and I guess he rates Young higher than many others in the squad.

This boy is why we are doing so well, everything comes through him. He wont go, he will be staying here at least for a couple more seasons.

Sale would be a white flag and MON and Randy will not be raising the white flag at Villa Park, of that I am confident!

At least a couple more seasons Tez86? I'd like to think a lot longer than that.

I hope so Adam but it all depends where we are at the time, obviously if we are flying high in the league and the champions league then I hope he wont. I am also worried that Ronaldo wont be at united in 2 years time and he will need replacing....

It would be like winning the Lottery and then giving it all away. We have to keep the best to be the best. We are no longer a selling club and hopefully other clubs will listen to MON when he says "Hands off"!

Ash is an Arsenal fan, and wouldn't join Man United I'm sure.

If we were in the Champions League he wouldn't leave at all.
