O'Neill On Consistent Brilliance Of Villa Pair

Villa boss Martin O'Neill says it isn't just the brilliance of Ashley Young and Gabby Agbonlahor that dazzles him, it is the fact they perform consistently.

He told the official site:

'Ashley and Gabby are so consistent but, more importantly, they are consistently brilliant.'

Adding, 'Their performances this season have been incredible. They are two very young players improving and, pleasingly, looking to improve their game even more. They were mesmeric against Bolton - absolutely brilliant. They were really world-class.'

It was nice to see when Young was coming off against Everton Martin O'Neill went up to him, hugged him and said twice, 'you are a genius'. Top man management. These guys really can have a massive future at Villa. Just shows how well Young is doing as the money bags of Real Madrid are apparently looking, but he wouldn't be stupid enough to move there at this stage of his career only to end up on the bench or not fancied when the next boss (and there always is a next boss at Real) comes along!

The exciting thing about Gabby is that he is improving season on season, you cannot ask for anymore from a young player and it seems that he is building a great understanding with Ashley Young. Gabby certainly seems to be answering the questions about whether he truly can become a top Premiership striker.
