Milner Fighting to Be Fit

James Milner is battling to be fit in time for the Bolton clash this weekend after suffering a bout of flu.

Milner was suffering with the illness during our 3-2 victory over Everton but O'Neill is hoping he will be fully recovered in time to face Megson's side.

'James has had a virus, the same flu bug which has hit a few people at the club like Nigel Reo-Coker and Nicky Shorey, and he did really brilliantly to play at Everton at the weekend.

'He is pretty washed out at the moment but we are hoping, with a few days rest, he will be okay.'

Villa will continue to be without John Carew again, however O'Neill is hoping rest and treatment will suffice in solving his back complaint.

'We think this course of action we are taking is the right thing to do so we will see.

'I am not exactly sure when he will be thinking about getting back. Will he be available for the Christmas programme? I really don't know and it is not going to be one of those things where he is going to be rushed into doing something.'

It has to be said, after allowing Salifou to play against Zilina, why O'Neill persisted with a flu ridden Milner is beyond me.

It is the time of year for a few player injuries etc, hopefully the fringe players will be able to cope with the shock of playing. Be interesting when Carew is back and fit, if he ever is fit that is.
The Fear
Wouldnt be surprised if NRC gets a run out on the right since it seems like the media think he may be getting ichy feet. I cant really see if NRC did anything drastically wrong to get left out of the side - I mean its not like Jimmy Milner has done any better on the right than NRC? Theyve both done well, but with Milner not being 100% and NRC hungry, it may not be a bad idea if Jimmy nurses his cold at the weekend...
