'If It's Football, It's Vital'

'Extraordinary' Attitude - The Verdict

Martin O'Neill was positively beaming after Villa secured all 3 points against Everton today.

Speaking on the official site, O'Neill said:

'I went through the range of emotions. We defended - we were under the cosh - and I was desperate for us to see it through.

'Then they equalised towards the end of stoppage time and I just felt like a lot of hard work had gone to waste and it would be two points dropped.

'But then we produced a winning goal - extraordinary, absolutely extraordinary.

'It was a great win - a fantastic result. That gives the players an enormous lift. Hopefully it will give the fans an enormous lift too.

'They say that football is a rollercoaster of emotions - and it's never been more apt than with that result and finish.

'If the referee has blown up after their equaliser it would have been a disappointing day but we've gone and won the game. It was remarkable.'

We certainly needed a win like this to remove the 'concerns' surrounding the Zilina battering, and it looks like we are mildly back on track now.

O'Neill is right to praise the attitude, after taking the lead Everton certainly put us under the cosh and managed to draw level, we again replied and took the lead and then had to weather another Scouse storm, to which they equilised.

We didn't roll over and take the point though, we went straight back down the other end and secured the 3 points we desperately deserved.

Can't ask for more than that.

Hey itb was close though.... but having said that football must be the only thing that takes you from Anguish to elation in a matter of seconds. The look on Lescotts face said it all.

Ninety-four minutes, when all those present, very definitely went through every emotion, normally associated with this great game we all so love and enjoy.

Good response there koolbill. lincolnblue spends more time on here than any of us Villans do. What is he? A closet Villan or something?
