Aston Villa Transfer Gossip

Transfer news is surprisingly short on the ground! That will change as we move steadily towards the January transfer window.

The only thing of interest I can find today is in The Mirror. The red top has repeated the rumour that Villa are after Wigan winger Antonio Valencia.

The player, rated at around £7million apparently, is also wanted by Manchester United and Liverpool.

Another report suggests that Wigan boss Mr Potato Head has already been told he has to sell before he can buy in January with Emile Heskey another player being linked to Villa Park with the Latics wanting to get something for the player now rather than see him walk for nothing in the summer.

Looks like Ajax striker Klass-Jan Huntelaar, who has been linked with Villa a few times, is on his way to Real Madrid. Ho hum. Further more, Liverpool have ruled themselves out of the chase for Newcastle striker Michael Owen. Double ho hum.

Podolski has said he wants to leave Bayern in January because he is fed up of warming Klinsmanns benches. He would be in our price range, and crosses all of MON's boxes, Young, Hungrey, British (well Anglo Saxon), I would say almost as fast as Gabby, but better ball control and distribution. He would be perfect! And he has a point to prove in club football, for his country he already has!

Please not Heskey. That would be so disappointing. He's 30. He's injury prone. He doesn't score a lot of goals. Please don't come back with 'it's what he brings to the team' argument. Please Martin, no.

VillaYamYam, I'm with you 100% buddy, but, sadly, I think that our plea's are going to fall on deaf ears.

We need a 'fox-in-the-box', a Jermaine Defoe. Kevin Doyle would also suffice, but we didn't snap him up in the summer, so I cant imagine we'll have any more success in that direction come January. No, hurts me to say it, but looks like we'll be seeing Emile sporting the claret and blue.
