Klaas-Jan Nistelrooy?

Bones_Villan on the links to Klass-Jan Huntelaar who he says could be our van the man.

Klaas-Jan Nistelrooy?

We're winding up to that magical time of year and I'm not talking about Christmas.

The January transfer window is almost upon us and as usual, several names are being banded around, with Villa being linked to several of them.

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is one of these names. As we have recently played Ajax (who weren't a bad side at all) I thought I'd take a closer look at him in a wider context.

Now, as we've all seen, a certain Brazilian goalkeeper who excelled in the Dutch Eredivisie has come to England and flapped. A lot. And as an ex-student, I know from many late nights watching Channel 5's Dutch football coverage, that the standard is poor as a rule.

But what of Huntelaar? He looked sharp against us on that great night and his name has been linked to the very best in the country for a while now. Should we be the ones to take a chance on him? From what I've seen he'd make a good target man and he's also got a good eye for goal. However, is he still living off that wonder kid tag?

At 25 years old he's no kid, although not at his peak. 75 goals in 90 appearances for Ajax is a phenomenal record, albeit against very average opposition. Another triple named Dutchman did rather well in the
Premiership. Remember him? He came to the premiership at 25 years old and the rest is history.

I for one (depending on price) would like to see Huntelaar at B6. It would be extra competition for Carew and may be the goal poacher that we've been lacking for the past few seasons. Could he be our Van Nistelrooy?

Sounds like he's off to Real Madrid to replace Van Nistelrooy who is out for the season.

I guess his price just jumped up 10 or 15m then :/ Shame, as I recon he would give us something a bit different.

We would never get him,he never got the ball against us so he was not in the game.

As Ajax have now confirmed talks with Real regarding the player I think it's tie to move on.

we need to buy podolski! we could get him for under 10M and he's a good young international striker. we dont need geovanni and i dont want crouch back at VP.we need some1 who knows where the goal is. any other suggestions for strikers??????

The two most likely strikers to move in the transfer window are Heskey and Owen. If MON doesnt like Harwood anymore, then maybe Heskey could replace him on the bench (thinking particularly of the 2nd half versus Fulham!), while Owen although injury prone would send a message to potential future signings that we are beginning to attract high profile players to the club (and he might stay fit and score the odd goal). Yes i would rather have Huntelaar than either of these, but no i don't think we would get him.

Why not Crouchy then? Reliable, well confident and bags of experience and NOT INJURY prone. Why not Geovanni, he would have unlocked Fulham like a cokney burglar unlocks council flats!!!! Would have been an excellent couple of subs to bring on. Owen won't come here for all the tea in China. I wouldn't mind him but his heart wouldn't be in it even if he did come. The guy still misses LFC. I'd like Podolski but there is another guy who won't look outside our top 4, EVER. He would only come IF we get Champs League. I would like to throw Larsson into the mix and have him for a season or just this second half after January.........hold on, just getting my batwings on in anticipation of a kicking! Ha. ;-)

KVH for me would be great. Can't think of a bad Dutch player in the Prem. Sure someone will now correct me. They are so comfortable on the ball. I think he would be great. Do think he will go to Real though :(

I wouldn't have crouch because he's essentially carew and we'd have to pay alot in transfer and wages for him. If we were after a tall striker with physical and aerial presence i'd be after kuranyi from schalke or iaquinta from juve

Huntelaar is about to sign for Real Madrid in January. Hard luck, we can't compete with the likes of Real Mardrid... yet ;)

Podolski is a good shout though - if he's available we'd be mad not to have a sniff....

Was never a realistic option for us was he? It was clear that one of europes leading lights would be in for him sooner rather than later.

Thought he was poor against us, just didn't suggest that he was the type of centre-forward who would thrive in the premier league. I'm not too disappointed, far from it.
