Gareth Barry Parts With His Agent

Gareth Barry has left his agent Alex Black with the Sunday Mail saying it is because the agent failed to get him his 'dream move' to Liverpool in the summer.

They also claim - which to me looks simply like putting 2+2 together and coming up with 5 - that ditching his agent is a clear sign that Barry intends to quit Villa Park at the end of the season if we don't get a Champions League place. Well, they are wrong, he can't quit, he has another year on his contract. There is some talk that he could buy his way out of the deal but that situation isn't clear, MON talked about it recently and said he hadn't got a clue. Some have suggested that would only be if he moved abroad.

It's not a suggestion that he might only buy out his contract if he moves abroad, it's a part of FIFA's / UEFA's regulations that a player may buy out the remainder of his contract if no more than one year only if he does not play in the same association the following season. I guess he could always go to Scotland but I can't see that happening and failing that he must go abroad IF he chooses to buy out his contract.

Whether Alex Black is on the scene or not, nothing really changes here does it? Finish top four and give Gareth the Champions League Football that he's craving for, and the guy will no doubt stay. Finish amongst the also rans, once again flattering to deceive, and he'll be off to pastures new.

Certainly as far as most Villans are concerned I would imagine, lets just be thankful that we've got him here at B6 to seasons end at least. We're a much better team with Gareth in there doing the business, than we ever would be without him.
