Sir Alex Chewalot has again said that Villa can break into the top four. The Manchester United boss, who always seems to be complimentary about Villa, said:
'They are level with Arsenal and not far behind us, which is a good position to be in. It will be interesting because it is such a competitive league. Without question, Martin O'Neill is one of the best managers in the game. The only way you can judge managers is how they prove themselves over a period. And the job he has done at Leicester, Celtic and now Aston Villa makes him an obvious top manager.'
MON really couldn't get a better recommendation than that could he? THE best manager of our generation calling MON 'one of the best managers in the game'. No pressure there then!
Fergie continued: 'He has built up a squad over the last couple of years that allows him consistent team selection. He doesn't make many changes and sticks by his format all the time.'
Meanwhile MON is looking for nothing but a win tomorrow v Manchester United and feels the mentality of the team has to adjust to wanting to win against the top four not just competing.
'I generally believe records are there to be broken but I think we would need to play as well as we did at the Emirates to stop this run. Do I think we are capable of doing it? Yes. I am thinking our side is capable of doing something about the record and, if we don't gain confidence from the win last week, we will never gain confidence.'
Adding, 'If we beat Arsenal and Manchester United in successive games, it would give us the most enormous boost. The players would think they are capable of going onto the pitch against the big sides and not just competing - but with a chance of winning. That is the sort of mentality we are trying to change here.'
