Which Striker Would You Like Villa To Sign?

Vital Vilal asked, in a poll suggested by Stig,

Which striker would you like most in January?

Seems most want Ajax striker Klass Jan Huntelaar who got 34% of the votes.

Next up the one that a fair few Premiership clubs will be sniffing around (unfortunate turn of phrase) this January as he can leave on a free next summer, is Newcastle's Michael Owen on 22%. Would be a world class addition if he can stay fit. He is only 29 (this December) and has years ahead of him injury permitting. There is no better on his day.... ooooh, just imagine!

Then comes Portsmouth's Jermain Defoe with 11%. Why oh why did Martin O'Neill not want him last January!????!

Other results:

Newcastle's Obafemi Martins (8%)
Blackburn's Santa Cruz (7%)
Barcelona's Thierry Henry (6%)
Wigan's Amir Zaki (5%)
Reading's Kevin Doyle (3%)
Other (2%)
Wigan's Emile Heskey (1%)
West Ham's Dean Ashton (1%) So low because he is again injured I'd assume?
Pompey's Peter Crouch (0%)

Vital Vilal :-) That Ajax gadgy seems to be on everyone's list!
merlin
I thought MON wanted Defoe every transfer window since he came to Villa. Trouble was that Defoe didn't want to come to Villa! Or did I miss something last January?
villa_de
Personally I would have gone for Bent...
col8
Kuranyi/Iaquinta!
NorthcliffeBandit
Is this the same Huntelaar who never got a kick when we beat Ajax? Thought Saurez looke better myself?
Villan57
villa_de, we definately didn't go in for Defoe last Jan. I am sure if we had he would have come. He knows a big club when he sees one!
The Fear
Gary Linekar.

Col8 is saying to MON to "Get Bent"
young_jonah
Huntelaar had no service when playing against us. With our midfield he'd be bagging 30 a season.
Platypus
Dammit, Andy Cole has retired...
evoflash
sturridge for city would be a good youn, cheap signing. but if were looking for quality i'd like to see Fabio Quagliarella from udinese. but also owen would score loads but cant see randy payin his high wages
rhymez1
Why would anyone want Owen?100 grand a week for someone who plays 20 minutes a month? He's getting on as well.Zaki looks the business though.
CoxintheBox
And why sign Heskey when you have Carew? At least Doyle would bring something different.......
CoxintheBox
its 1 thing doing it in the champioship and another in the prem. for the money they want for doyle that could get us half a world class striker. maybe huntelaars right leg? NOT heskey, he'l be in his 30's and is as much a threat to score as i am owning villa in the next 5 years!!!
rhymez1
He's already done it in the prem, last season he was played in midfield a lot which didn't help overall goal tally, but season before he was great,I think he's improved a lot since then as well,he's been fantastic in Irelands internationals.
CoxintheBox
rhymez1, agreed, Quagliarella is top
NorthcliffeBandit
I'm easy, no fancy names for me. Kevin Doyle from Reading (a guy I said on the forums back in MAy/June that we should be seriously looking at), and the lad Beckford from Leeds United. Two players who will give us options and alternatives.
glensider
Heaven forbid, we dont want or need Emile Heskey? Surely not? We need players to provide us with alternative striking options, not a lumbering non-goalscoring lump like Heskey.
