Unoial Villa News...

Vital Villa asked for your man of the match votes for the 2-0 defeat at the hands of Newcastle United on Monday night. Looks like a large 'protest' vote has happened as the winner was Marlon Harewood with 41%! It really was a night where it was hard to pick anyone who shone although of the players that actually were on the pitch for more than five minutes, (!) Brad Friedel, Luke Young and Martin Laursen faired best, all with 10%. Full results:

Our latest poll asks which striker you would like most in the January transfer window with the choices including Newcastle United's Michael Owen or Obafemi Martins, Portsmouth's Peter Crouch or Jermain Defoe, Barcelona's Thierry Henry and Ajax's Klass Jan Huntelaar to name but a few!

Stiliyan Petrov and James Milner haven't flown to Prague due to injury. Meanwhile Marlon Harewood has also stayed behind as he's just become a daddy! There must be something in the water because Isaiah Osbourne has also not travelled as his good lady is due to give birth any day now.

Vital Villan: The Football Association confounded all fans today by revealing they will be doing sweet FA against Joey Barton for raising his hand to Gabby's face last night. Amazing to think that there would've been any other outcome really. Whilst Graham Poll was clear is was a sending off offence, at least I'm sure that's what he said, he could've recommended 3 yellow cards or if Barton played in red he should receive a medal for all I know, Steve known by most as Gordon Bennett said once seeing the event he didn't deem it a sending off offence so no action should be taken retrospectively. Nice of him eh. Full article: Football Association In Shocker

Apparently Villa aren't prepared to let this go though and are looking into the race row allegations following actions and comments by pond life and the shame of Newcastle United, Joey Barton. Full details in our forum: Click Here

Vital Villan: James Milner believes Gabby has improved his game twofold since breaking through from the reserves, but he believes all our youngsters still have more to show. Speaking on the official site Milner has seen Gabby improvement, both in his time at the club previously and whilst on U21 duty. 'Gabby is a fantastic player to have in your side. His pace causes all sorts of problems going forward and he also is an outlet when we are defending. 'You look up and you know if you put a decent ball behind him, he will make something of it. His partnership with John Carew is great too. They are certainly on the same wavelength. Gabby is more than just pace. His awareness has improved. He was all pace when he started out.' Aston Villa`s young striker Sam Williams has joined League One side Colchester United for a 3 month loan spell

Vital Villan: Cyrille Regis has today collected his MBE for services to football from the Queen. Cyrille, still a sprightly and towering sight at 50 years young, has always been well loved by fans wherever he has gone. Villans, Boingers and those Wandering folk don't often agree on much, but with the often pointless showering of XBE's from Buckingham Palace over the years, I think we would all agree this one is fully deserved. Full quotes: Nice One Cyrille MBE

Vital Villan: Martin O'Neill is ready to ring the changes again for Thursdays clash with Slavia Prague after rotational nonrotation brought such success at Newcastle. According to the Mail O'Neill is ready to respond to our failure to perform by drafting in Sidwell and Davies, which I thought was the plan for Newcastle actually? Rotation To Reappear For Prague?

Vital Villan: Aston Villa winger Ashley Young has penned a new 4-year contract that will see him stay on at Villa Park until 2012. Quotes from Ashley: Young Ashley Delighted

Vital Villan: Martin Laursen has called on the team to bounce back from the disappointment against Newcastle. Speaking to the Express and Star, our Captain said: 'That`s football. We can`t win every time. We had a couple of chances in the first half and we didn`t take them. We could have won the game. We made mistakes and obviously did not do that well with the goals. We just have to move on and think about the new game because it is going to be exciting.' Full article: Laursen Wants A Response In Prague

Vital Villan: In a tangent linked to Lewis Hamilton, Paul 'God' McGrath has revealed one of his motivations on the pitch. I'm not really sure who Lewis Hamilton is, apparently he's in another sport where you let the most expensive car win and you try not to drive into tyres, which is ridiculous because cars run on tyres. Anyway speaking to the Daily Mail Online, God said: 'I am so proud of Lewis Hamilton and delighted he rubbed all their noses in it. He is a special guy. Lewis seems to have a beautiful family and he is a talent. Lewis is a young black man. It seems to be angry white men who can't stand seeing black people who are successful.' Adding, 'When I was out on the pitch and someone shouted something at me, I used to think 'I'm earning a fortune' and do the fingers. Full quotes: God Reveals Motivation

Congrats to Marlon, commiserations to his missus if the kid's forehead is as big as his, painful.

What a disappointing night Monday was up at St James Park. A very poor performance, surely asking questions as to our capabilities of breaking into the Big 4.

The sad thing is that we haven't got enough variations up front, enough options. Marlon for all of his 100% commitment to the cause, is clearly not the answer.
