'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Laursen Wants A Response In Prague

Martin Laursen has called on the team to bounce back from last nights disappointment against Newcastle. I just hope he means against Slavia Prague and doesn't mean with the nightlife.

Speaking to the Express and Star, our Captain said:

"That`s football. We can`t win every time. We had a couple of chances in the first half and we didn`t take them. We could have won the game. We made mistakes and obviously did not do that well with the goals.

"We just have to move on and think about the new game because it is going to be exciting."

Exciting won't be the word fans are using if we put in performances like we did last night and against Blackburn.

The UEFA Cup group stages aren't really the time to be resting first team regulars, so I'm hoping the first team get a chance to respond as opposed to O'Neill actually rotating the squad this time round for those players who were meant to be 'rested' against Newcastle.

They couldn't have done any worse could they?

Hopefully the whole dressing room shares our skippers views and attitude. They let themselves, the club, the supporters, particularly those of us who made the long haul up there and back, down. A huge disappointment.

Certainly that result/performance puts a very huge question make against all talk of us being serious top four challengers.
