Luke Young said after his goal v Blackburn Rovers: 'I didn`t know too much about it, I think the word you would maybe use is that I bundled it into the net. It came off me, I flashed at it and it went in, but it was a vital time for us to score really. It`s brilliant that we are fourth but it`s early yet and there`s a quarter of the season gone. We`ll keep our feet on the ground but it`s been a good start.'

Blackburn Rovers boss Paul Ince agrees: 'I don't think it will be this season, and Martin O'Neill will say the same. But I think definitely over the next two or three years, with the financial clout they've got, they will be challenging the big four. If we're close to Villa at the end of the season, it will mean we've had a good season.'

Brad Friedel told the Mail that Villa are confident but not arrogant. 'We have gone into every game so far this season with confidence and I hope we continue to do so. After losing both to Stoke and Chelsea it didn`t affect us for the game after.' Adding, 'We didn`t allow it to knock our confidence and that`s pleasing. Confidence in the Premier League can never ever be mistaken for arrogance because if you do that you get beaten.'
Brad Friedel says it was strange for him to be playing against instead of for Blackburn Rovers. He told AVTV: 'It was strange playing against them. It wasn't emotional though. Once I crossed the white line, it was all business. I was always going to do my best for Villa. I want them to do well. Absolutely. They are the next result I look at after Villa and then Liverpool after that. I have a lot of friends at the club - boardroom, staff, players and fans. I wish them well.'

18-year-old Villa youth star Barry Bannan has told the official site how great it is to be playing alongside Steve Sidwell in the reserves midfield. He said: 'Everyone's playing well, we're getting results and the place is on the up. It really helps that the first team is doing so well because it puts a great buzz about the place. Playing with Steve Sidwell only brings you on because he's a quality player. He gives you good tips when you're playing and he really helps you. You just feel more confident going on the pitch and playing with people like that. Being with better players is obviously going to improve your game.'
