Barry Aiming For Double Figures

Gareth Barry doesn't sound like a man looking to leave in January, instead he wants to beat his previous record for goals in a season.

Following the Blackburn game last night Barry has made it 3 goals in as many games, giving him a total of 5 goals since the start of the season.

His previous best was 9 goals, and he intends to beat that this time round.

Speaking to the Mail, he said:

"Can I get into double figures this season? Yes, I think so.

'I can play more games maybe, the top four play 60-odd whereas we`ve been playing 44-50, with more games there are more chances so perhaps I can get into double figures for the first time.

"I`ve got a bit more licence, when John Carew came on, it made it tougher for them in terms of defending. But I always try and get in the box and the chances seem to be falling for me."

"But we knew we didn`t play very well. To come away with three points is massive.

'These are the nights the fans think we are just going to beat Blackburn and as a professional you know it doesn`t happen like that.

"We couldn`t get our normal game going but we did enough in the end. But they played well. We got away with it a little bit. It was a tough night out there and getting three points was a big relief."

The Top 4 play more games eh, well we are sitting pretty in the Top 4, we are well placed to be heading into the latter stages of the UEFA Cup so it looks like Barry is going to get his 60-odd game wish with us doesn't it.

Barry is already on 2 goals in the Premiership and 3 in Europe. I'd say with the amount of penalties he scores, he should be able to get to double figures in the league, what do you reckon?

Not sure he needs to add about the fans, I don't think the majority of fans are any under illusion how difficult it is to pick up points in the Premiership?

Totally think he can get into double figures though and agree with Vital Villan, doesn't look like he plans to go anywhere this Jan!
The Fear
wasn't Carew looking for double figures the other day? Double d in the lapdancing club!?
The Fear
He still mentions the big four though, so obviously doesn't see Villa as one of them! Still reckon he will be gone next summer.
In MON we trust!
They are the big four until another team can consistently finish in the top 4.
UpTheHolte
I hope he reaches his goal of double figures. I think that Steve Sidwell is more likely to produce that amount from midfield, but with the two of them firing on all cylinders, we should be in for a healthy campaign.

UpTheHolye is quite correct of course. They are the big four, and deserve to be heralded as the big four, until someone consistently breaks their monopoly.
