Villa Boss Happy With Strength Of Defence
Martin O'Neill says he has no worries about the attitude of Curtis Davies who has found himself on the bench having been replaced by Carlos Cuellar recently.
He also talks of the strength in depth at the club for centre backs and says they are all top class.
MON said: 'Curtis has been excellent. We as a team had a tough time at Stamford Bridge, so I made some changes. Curtis is the least of my concerns. He’s so strong mentally so that is not a problem. He’s played a lot of games for us so how can there be frustration the first time that he’s not started a game? I’m not saying that we will be rotating in the manner that other clubs with bigger resources than we have at the moment are able to do, but we will rotate.'
He also says he hasn't been dropped due to form: 'It’s not a problem. Overall I have actually been pretty pleased, but I think people start to run away with the fact that if somebody is not in the starting line-up they must be playing dreadfully. That wasn’t the case.' And on the strength in depth
'I think it’s brilliant to have three centre halves here that have real genuine quality in different aspects as well. It’s really good. Curtis Davies has done and will do exceptionally well. Martin Laursen has been a tower of strength here and Carlos has come in and been really excellent. I’m absolutely delighted. We’ve got Zat Knight as well and Zat in many aspects might be the unluckiest one of the lot after his performances last year from when he signed.'
He also says he would be happy to play any four of them in combination.
