An interview with Worbo from Vital Wigan before the weekends clash v the Latics: An Interview With A Wigan Fan

The sheriff is back in town with his weekly Villa summary: The Week In Villa #9 (17/10/08 - 23/10/08)

And whilst on the subject of the Sherriff, here is a walk down memory lane with the good man: It was 20 years ago today...

Vital Villa asked: What should MON do with Gareth Barry? 71% said the England international should be played in midfield/attacking. 23% wanted to see him sold in January following his 'outburst' about being moved to left back. Other results: Majority Say Play Gareth Barry In Midfield

Vital Villa asked for your votes for Man Of the Match v Ajax. Quite rightly (!) Martin Laursen won with 24% of the votes. The bloke is a rock, or a legend, or a legendary rock! Stiliyan Petrov came next. Full results: Villa's Man Of The Match v Ajax

Lawro has tipped Villa to beat Wigan: 'If Wigan sulk after getting robbed at Anfield last week, they could struggle. But I'm sure Steve Bruce won't let that happen. Villa have the kind of team which can sit back away from home, soak up the pressure, and then pick you off. Though they have stuttered of late, I expect them to win at the JJB.' And predicts 2-1 to Villa.

Well, I think I quite like Steve Bruce all of a sudden?! Hey, stop those sharp intakes of breath, it appears he is a fan of what Martin O'Neill is doing and has backed Villa to break the top four. No more Mr Potato head then!!! Bruce was at Villa Park to see us beat Ajax 2-1 and said: 'If there's going to be one team that's going to break the top four, then for me the team in the best position at the moment is Aston Villa. I've been mightily impressed with the job Martin O'Neill's done, a new owner's come in and they've got a brand-new training ground. Of course, they've had some investment on the pitch to help Martin but they do it properly.' Full quotes: Steve Bruce Compliments Villa Shocker!!

Martin O'Neill has been talking about Emile Heskey who Villa will face tomorrow at the JJB. O'Neill, who managed the big man at Leicester City, has refused to be drawn on the speculation linking Villa with a move for the striker but did say he was a big powerful player and that he isn't surprised the level of interest in him. Full quotes: Martin O'Neill On Wigan Striker Emile Heskey

The reports today are full of claims that John Carew was out the night before the big match v Ajax until 1am in a lap dancing club (whatever one of those is?!?!?!!!!) Full info: Has John Carew Disgraced Himself?

Even Stiliyan Petrov thinks the fans were right to boo him. Must admit I disagree! No way does it help a player devoid of confidence to be booed by his own fans! That said, I did lose my temper the other week when he went down like he'd been assassinated when someone kicked his arm. He was rolling about too much so he arm can't have hurt that much, so I suggested he get up, get on with the game and kick the player back! The Bulgarian international midfielder told Sky Sports: 'To be honest, the fans were right with their reaction towards me. I was a big signing, I cost a lot of money, and they expect a lot from you. If I don't produce then of course they will be on my back. The manager left me out of the side for six or seven games last season but I knew I wasn't doing well.' Stan Petrov is 'The Man'. Fans right to boo him? Absolutely no way! Seemingly there always has to be a scapegoat wearing the claret and blue though, sadly it was just Stan's turn. He wasn't the first, and certainly wont be the last.
