Stiliyan Petrov Agreed With The Villa Boo Boys!

Stiliyan Petrov Agreed With The Villa Boo Boys!

Even Stiliyan Petrov thinks the fans were right to boo him. Must admit I disagree! No way does it help a player devoid of confidence to be booed by his own fans! That said, I did lose my temper the other week when he went down like he'd been assassinated when someone kicked his arm. He was rolling about too much so he arm can't have hurt that much, so I suggested he get up, get on with the game and kick the player back!

The Bulgarian international midfielder told Sky Sports:

'To be honest, the fans were right with their reaction towards me. I was a big signing, I cost a lot of money, and they expect a lot from you. If I don't produce then of course they will be on my back. The manager left me out of the side for six or seven games last season but I knew I wasn't doing well.'

'The manager did the right thing. Nigel Reo-Coker and Gareth Barry were both playing well. But in every training session I tried to give them as much competition as possible. It takes some players longer than others to settle in but you've seen me every day and I've never given up.'

Adding, 'I know what I can do and what I can produce and finally I started showing it.'

He also says it is great now to hear the fans singing his name and him being able to show them why the manager bought him in the first place from Celtic.

And on the UEFA Cup competition he says, 'It would be a great feeling for all the boys here if we can do it because it would be a long journey, with a lot of games, but we're prepared for that and I think we can achieve things in this competition.'

must admit he's playing very well, last season everytime he had the ball he passed it backwards, very nnoying, but was devoid of confidence. Classy player so far this season, and gets stuck in too.

The booing was stupid,But fair play to stan for not being a woman about it,The guy is a class act.

lerneravfc - hope someone else is watching him - he might 'lern' something too about being a class act

impressive talk now he's playing ok, didn't hear much of that when he wasn't. That would make him a class act. Decent of him to suggest he knows more than all those 'positive' fans who said there was no reason to drop him and got on the back of those who said O'Neill should. He was always a good player, pity its taken nearly 80+ games for him to show it consistently. Maybe, just maybe there is stll hope for Harewood, I presume that whom you were referring too.

So are you suggesting that he should have been constantly chatting to the press when he wasn't doing well, av? In my mind, players should do exactly what he has done - get your head down and work your way out of the bad times, THEN talk to the press. But nothing about Aston Villa satisfies you, does it - you're never happier than when things go wrong, so you can say "I told you so". What an unhappy man you are.

"impressive talk now he's playing ok, didn't hear much of that when he wasn't." We didn't heard a single moan, did we?

Disagree with Stan the Man. There was absolutely no excuse for him being the subject of boo's and jeers from the VP morons. Sadly, he wasn't the first to get such treatment, even more sadly, he wont be the last.
