Man Of Match v Pompey + What To Do With Barry

Vital Villan asked, in the guise of 'at least we didn't lose' for your Man of the Match votes v Pompey.

Oh this is getting so boring now....! Stiliyan Petrov was again the runaway victor with 66%

Must admit, I think Martin Laursen should be up there neck and neck with him, the man is a colossus at the back!

Anyway, next up was Brad Friedel with 7%

Carlos Cuellar, Gareth Barry and Nigel Hokey-Cokey all shared the spoils on 5% each.

Other results:

Laursen (3%)
Milner (2%)
Davies (2%)
A. Young (2%)
Agbonlahor (1%)
Carew (1%)
L. Young (1%)

Our latest poll, suggested by Villan444 asks what Martin O'Neill should do with Gareth Barry.

Petrov is playing really well at the moment but is he THAT good to get 59% more votes than anyone else?!
The Fear
What bothers me is that Villa are so slow and lethargic at home...it's as if the first 45 mins is merely a warm up for the second half! I hope Magic Mart gives 'em a pre-match kick up the backside before the Ajax match!
pongogidman
Cant argue with Petrovs performances this season, easily our most consistant player week in week out. Long may it continue.
col8
Outstanding performance on Saturday Mr Fear, and credit where it is due, many have slagged this man off left, right and centre, but since super Shaun went back to the lower leagues, he seems to be transformed and certainly deserving of his plaudits. Long may it continue.
steff_the_villan
cant nock the guy hes been a star so far but it makes you wonder how many people are voting that actualy see the whole game as aposed to highlights? i agree with you mr fear in that laursen has indeed been collosus
Astonian Villan
TOTALLY agree Steff, think he has sprung to life and is playing fantastically, but he isn't that far ahead of the likes of Laursen!!!!
The Fear
Doesn't this come back to our recent thoughts, Mr Fear, that the current polls only allow one vote for one player, so if one player is really on form, NONE of the others players get a look in, no matter how closely they ran the winner. I don't think it reflects the true feelings of people, in terms of the degree to which they viewed the players' performances - it's only a crude guide to who they thought played best.
BobTheBuilder
It does bob. We'll get a player rating thing done at some stage when we can slot the time for it. That said, you can come back and vote again for another player, just has to be on another visit to the site. I do agree, these polls are only a crude guide and a bit of fun!
The Fear
Laursen is in such good form, noone thinks that he could play less consistently than that. I think that the result of the poll is due to the amazement of the consistency the form of Stan. :) Long may it continue.
Poncho
Petrov is playing at the top of his game. As a long-term admirer of the guy I'm not going to argue against him picking up all of these plaudits, but admittedly other individuals are performing consistently well too, and deserve recognition. It is though only a bit of fun, in many cases people voting when they haven't actually been to the game, or only at best witnessed highlights on tv.

What worries me somewhat is the fact that we do look more equipped to to playing away from Villa Park. We still struggle to break teams down at home. We lack creativity.
