Gareth Barry - Not Moaning But Not That Happy?

Gareth Barry - Not Moaning But Not That Happy?

Gareth Barry told Sky Sports that he was surprised to have been put at left back in the 0-0 draw v Portsmouth on Saturday but says he'll play wherever he is asked.

In a baffling move one of our most creative midfielders found himself in defence, after the game he said:

'I was a bit surprised when the manager read the team. I'm not a player who enjoys players running at me too much when I play in defence, I try to enjoy going forward and I hope the manager appreciates that. He had a brief chat with me before the game and said it wasn't a long-term thing, but I know he changes his mind, so I'm going to have to take that with a pinch of salt.'

Adding, 'But I've never been one to moan too much and I'm not going to start now.'

OUCH? That looks like a bit of a dig doesn't it? All not totally well still I guess, after all under successive managers he has been moved from pillar to post and that affected his game, since MON came in he looked to have a more settled role in midfield which has led to more England call ups. So I'm sure he won't be thrilled going back to left back!?

What do you think? Is this the way we are going to convince Barry his future lies at Aston Villa?

Unlike MON to play players out of position.

MON needs his head examing wasting our best player at left back. Certainly no coincidence that we failed to score with him out of the midfield if you ask me.

It is time for Barry to move definitely. His presence is more disrupting and not helpful and sorry for that, IMHO his body talks for exit in every match.

Yep - on your bike Barry - this is quite a serious comment here and I should not be hearing through Vital Villa - on BBC sport or Sky Sports surely he would be torn to shreds!!! We are still waiting for an apology about the Summer but he does not seem to be bothered for us. I just wonder if he was not in the England squad would he give a ****e about us?? Is he just playing well for Capello. I dont care now - he may be one of our best players but to be honest - Sidwell, Petrov and Reo-Coker fighting for 2 centre-midfield places with Gardner and Osborne if needed is enough for me. I cant be bothered with Barry any more to be honest. If I was O'Neill I would be very p155ed of with him but if he is smart (which he surely is!!) I would keep my mouth shut and let Liverpool make another bid - dont make it public and lower the price. Accept £12-15m from Liverpool or Arsenal and then buy a striker (Heskey??).

Blimey, can't believe people want our best player to go... We should be building the team around him. I don't blame him not being that happy being moved about. It does amaze me the blind faith in MON as a man manager. Hopefully you are all right.

***** him, hes been ***** all season bar the spurs game. He aint interested in midfield at the moment so its no great los to see him reverting to left back.

He is biding his time till next window and MON knows it too, so if someone DOES have to shift out of possition it wont be someone he cares about, it will someone he knows is on his bike. Plus he moans and groans so much he must have halved his price tag by now, so Pool will come in and get him cut price.
