An Apology To Phil Sharp

An Apology To Phil Sharp

The majority of Villa fans are embarrassed and appalled that a brainless thug, who threw a coin towards - we assume - Harry Redknapp, which hit the linesman in the Villa v Pompey game.

Some on the Vital forum have asked in the General's thread what we can do to send our apologies and good wishes to the linesman in question, so I thought a nice simple use of this site would be to start a thread and I'm sure the General will be only too happy to pass on the comments to him on our behalf.

Personally I'm gutted the good name of the club has been dragged through the press by this one joker and hope to goodness that the ctv will pick up on who it was OR the people who were around him will shop him, someone must have seen who it was. There is plenty of space in football for passion and heated debate, there is NO place for this sort of action.

So for all those that wish, leave a message of good will to Phil Sharp either in the front page article comments or in the forum and I will make sure they get passed on.

shocking way to be treated, hopefully you realise this isn't the way the real Villa fans behave. A thousand apologies that happened to you, the vast majority are greatly embarrassed and sorry for this incident.

Having been away in London this weekend and not seeing any TV I was devastated when I picked up a paper this afternoon to see the good name of Aston Villa being dragged through the gutter by this one moron. I hope that Mr Sharp bears no ill effects and that he and the rest of the country realise that this one bad apple does not represent 99.9% of Villa fans.

I don't think anyone thinks that all villa fans throw coins at assistant referees... your reputation will (probably) remain untarnished

I don't think we should blame Villa or football fans. The issue is the complete breakdown in decent society. Where the minority of kn0bheads run amok.

Good idea this. Thankfully Phil Sharp's injuries were only minor. Apologies to him from all proper Villa fans. Sadly I hear a coin was thrown at the linesman in the stoke v spurs match as well. It won't get as much publicity as this, because it missed, but the action and intent is just as bad. I just worry that with too much publicity, it might become the 'in thing' for the morons in our society to do. Anyway, good luck Phil sharp, and sorry.

Dear Mr Sharp, one fan has tarnished the great name of Aston Villa Football Club this weekend. On behalf of all villa fans, i have to say a huge sorry because this type of thing does not belong in football. I am sure Aston Villa will catch and punish the offender appropriateley. I hope you wasn't hurt too much and once again i am truly sorry.

Heartfelt apologies Mr Sharp, and to Harry Redknapp for that matter, from real Villa fans in the Upper Trinity. Quite what our American owners think of this senseless violence, Heaven only knows, please forgive us all for tarnishing our great club's name.

Lets hope the culprit is outed, nothing should be lobbed onto the field of play... or in the stands for that matter. Phil Sharp please accept our apologies as supporters of Aston Villa.
