Villa Line Up £10million Celtic Star Swoop?

Villa Line Up £10million Celtic Star Swoop?

According to the Daily Mirror today, Aston Villa are planning a £10m bid for 22-year-old Celtic star Aiden McGeady.

Scottish born McGeady is a Republic Of Ireland international (qualifies via his grannie) winger who can play on the left and the right..... Oh hang on, did I say winger? Yes, we are short of wingers aren't we?!?!? Just can't this at all although I guess Villa are looking at building strength in depth. Would this youngster get homesick like baby Shaun Maloney though?

The Mirror have a source saying: 'Aiden loves playing against the best in Europe but feels it may be time to move on. He is aware of interest from Newcastle and Sunderland in the past. But the fact Aston Villa are now keen may appeal to him as he progressed as a youngster under Martin O'Neill.'

According to Wikepedia, he has played 167 games scoring 23 goals and for Republic of Ireland he has made 20 appearances.

He also has his own Icons site where no doubt he'll deny the claims in the press shortly! Click Here

The Daily Mirror has another rumour, this time about Wigan striker Emile Heskey who has been linked several times to Aston Villa. He is now apparently a target for his former club Liverpool 'after his international renaissance'. With a 1 in 5 strike record, rather them than us surely?!

He won't be ready for another 5-6 years looking at that picture. How old is he?

Heskey and Gabby up front would be ace, everyone who has played alongside Heskey agrees he is a top strike partner. Owen scored for fun when they played together, Rooney has been on fire for England with Emile next to him, and Zaki, an unknown is loving it at Wigan with Heskey by his side. I would love him. As for McGready, the fact we only have 3 wingers (one being Routledge who is likely to move on at some point), McGready could be what we are after..... Oh and isnt the real reason Maloney left because he had been banging Petrov's wife and it hadnt gone down well in the dressing room? Homesick, my a*se!!!!

He may want to move on but moving to Villa is a move down. Moving to Barcelona or AC Milan is moving on, and not for 10 mil either. You're way off the mark.
