Young Praises The '12th Man' Villa Faithful

Young Praises The '12th Man' Villa Faithful

Ashley Young, you really do spoil us! The winger says the team are looking to reward the fans with a win this Saturday.

I bloody hope so, I'm taking my nephew, it is his 12th birthday, and I don't think he's ever seen us win!

Ash told the official site that the team know they've got to bounce back from the Chelsea defeat and says the fans play a crucial role.

'The atmosphere at Villa Park has been amazing this season and the fans have really got behind us. They have genuinely been like a 12th man and the lads really feel like we need to reward them every time we step out for a home game. We want to put on a show for them. Three points is vital. We are unbeaten at home and that's a vital statistic. Historically, they say 'win your home games and pick up points on the road' and nothing has changed over the years. Every team wants to do well at home for the fans and we are no different.'

He also praises me for my sideline contribution and advice as well as the extra effort I put into banging the boardings....well, ok he doesn't... he just says that Pompey will be tough to beat! :o)

We have our quiet days, no doubting that, but overall the atmosphere and volume of noise on match days has increased three-fold since the days of the previous regime.

Having home supporters located behind the North Stand goal has been a huge success, there can be no denying that fact.
