Ashley Young Scoops Player Of Month Award

Ashley Young Scoops Player Of Month Award

Congratulations to Ashley Young who has been named September's Premier League player of the month.

The 23-year-old winger, an ever present so far this season, has joined Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and Steven Gerrard as a player winning this award more than once. Young last won in April.

Not good enough Ashley, we want you to surpass the achievements of those chancers!!!!!!!!

Meanwhile Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor scored the winner as England under-21s beat Wales 3-2 last night in the first leg of their Euro 2009 play-off.

If he's that good, why hasn't he been picked for the England squad? I really hope that this "London and The North" mentality isn't starting up again! He's a much better player than Downing for a start!!

unbelievable that Downing consistently gets picked ahead of him for england, even when Young is having an ordinary game by his standards he is still better than downing at his best. i cannot understand it and im not the only one!!!

If he can win player of the month in the prem why is he a distant 2nd to Petrov in our player of the month rankings. Has Petrov been overlooked?

I dont care about the gloves one IOTA. Just keep doing what he's doing for the Villa and he can run up and down the touchline in stockings and a suspender belt.

col8 take a lie down mate in a dark room!!!! lol.Ash is consistently our best performer and after watching the dross that SWP served up in the second half to-night at wembley only Mr Capello can give a reason as to why he's not in the squad. Also can't see why Barry came off and left chipmonk head Gerrard on,the guy is so overated and gives the ball away so often, got to be Barry and fat Frank against Belarus.

No surprise really is it? Ashley is continuing on from where he left off last season, with some inspired displays. Despite receiving reinforced marking from opposition defences, Ash is continuing to prove to be our main threat at setting up chances for team-mates.

Only mystery, as others have commented, is how the hell doesn't his name appear regularly in Capello's England squads? As a nation do we really have more talented wide men than our Ash?
